Job Description

The BIM/CAD Technician role will include creation and editing of drawings in compliance with WSP New Zealand CAD Standards, detailing practices and ensuring high quality output.

Responsibilities

  • Creation and editing of models, drawings & sketches in compliance with WSP BIM/CAD Standards and detailing practices.
  • Produce accurate and timely models and drawings to agreed deadlines.
  • Completion of tasks received from Engineers and Senior BIM/CAD Technicians.
  • Generate sections / schedules / schematics from models and/or general arrangement drawings.
  • Ensure models, drawings are issued and filed in an appropriate manner.
  • Export of models/drawings to formats such as IFC, NWC, DWF & PDF.
  • Develop expertise and stay abreast of developments in relevant technical field.
  • Identify improvements (where possible) to enhance WSP service to clients.
  • Use cloud based common data environment (CDE) to manage the uploading and downloading of document, submittals, drawings, models etc.
  • Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.
  • Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to line manager.
  • Attend and contribute to team and project meetings as required.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Business Unit (BU) strategy. Including supporting the companies approach to sustainability.
  • Ensure QMS compliance.
  • Complete accurate timesheets by set deadline.
  • Feedback on all business development.

Key Competencies / Skills:

  • High level of proficiency with AutoCAD or Microstation Connect Edition 2D packages.
  • High level of proficiency with OpenRoads /OpenRails /OpenBuildings packages, with one or more 3D modelling experiences preferred.
  • Experience in producing and checking as-built 2D drawings and 3D modelling.
  • Ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as being a self-starter able to work unsupervised.
  • Be an energetic, self-starter and take ownership of your work.

Other:

  • To provide high quality consultancy services to WSP's clients and meet the applicable utilisation targets as determined by WSP to support and drive the ongoing success and growth of the organisation.
  • Comply with all role specific Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) obligations as detailed in the employment agreement and WSP policies, procedures and matrices (which may be introduced or updated from time to time).
  • Take responsibility for your self-development including developing goals through regular and relevant Thrive conversations, completing specified eLearning tasks, keeping up to date with relevant developments in your practice area and updating the Capabilities Database for sharing capabilities and qualifications within the business.
  • Achieve and/or maintain professional registrations/licences relevant to your role.
  • Perform other duties which are reasonably incidental to this position, as directed by the Company from time to time .

Qualifications


  • Diploma or Degree Civil / Structural Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
  • 5+ years experience in Rail and /or Civil, Roads CAD & Modelling experience using AutoCAD or MicroStation.

  • Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (BGV) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India.
