Role Summary:

You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable analytics solutions on the Looker BI Platform. We are seeking an experienced Looker Developer with deep hands-on expertise in LookML modeling, semantic layer governance, dashboard development, and a strong understanding of GCP data warehouses such as BigQuery. You will partner closely with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to deliver.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain LookML models, including views, explores, joins, and reusable semantic components.

• Create governed, scalable data models aligned with KPI definitions and business rules.

• Implement dimensions, measures, calculations, and LookML parameters following best practices.

• Optimize explores for performance, usability, and governed access.

• Build clean, intuitive dashboards and visualizations tailored to business users.

• Implement filters, drill paths, conditional logic, and other interactive analytics features.

• Ensure consistent design patterns and high performance across all reports.

• Improve Looker performance through LookML optimizations, caching strategies, and BigQuery SQL tuning.

• Conduct data validation, reconciliations, and regression checks to ensure accuracy.

• Troubleshoot issues related to dashboards, explores, user permissions, and scheduled reports.

• Establish and maintain Looker governance standards, including naming conventions, folder structure, and semantic consistency.

• Implement secure role-based access controls using Looker permissions, model sets, and user attributes.

• Maintain documentation for LookML projects, datasets, KPIs, joins, and business logic.

• Ensure compliance with data privacy and security guidelines.

• Work closely with data engineers, analytics engineers, and business stakeholders to align modeling with data pipelines.

• Partner with business teams to gather requirements, refine metrics, and design analytical solutions.

Requirements:

• 4+ years of experience as a Looker Developer or in a BI/analytics development role.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Analytics, or equivalent experience.

• Strong Hands-on experience with Looker modeling, dashboarding, user attributes, and role-based access control

• Proficiency with BigQuery SQL, including analytical functions, performance tuning, and working with large datasets.

• Familiarity with GCP data ecosystem (BigQuery, GCS, Dataform).

• Experience with Git for version control in Looker projects.

• Strong understanding of dimensional modeling, semantic layers, and BI best practices.

• Experience with Looker Conversational Analytics API. Automation using Python is a plus

• Experience with embedded Looker analytics is a plus.
