We are hiring a Senior Backend Platform Engineer to own and evolve the backend foundation of business-critical products used at scale. This role is built for engineers who think in systems, enjoy deep technical ownership, and want to influence how backend platforms are designed, operated, and scaled over time.
You will work at the intersection of architecture, execution, and mentorshipbuilding resilient backend services while shaping engineering practices that enable teams to move faster and safer.
What You'll Own
Platform & System Design
Architect backend platforms that handle high throughput, complex workflows, and real-time workloads.
Make long-term design decisions around scalability, reliability, security, and cost efficiency.
Define service boundaries, data ownership, and communication patterns across systems.
Backend Engineering & Operations
Build and operate production-grade services with full lifecycle ownership.
Design APIs, background workers, and event-driven components that scale reliably.
Own deployments, observability, incident response, and post-incident improvements.
Technical Leadership
Act as a technical anchor for backend teams, influencing design and implementation quality.
Lead code and design reviews with a focus on maintainability and correctness.
Mentor engineers on system design, debugging, and backend engineering fundamentals.
Engineering Excellence & Reliability
Champion best practices around testing, security, performance, and documentation.
Improve CI/CD pipelines, release safety, and rollback strategies.
Define and track reliability metrics (SLIs/SLOs) to drive continuous improvement.
Collaboration & Product Alignment
Partner closely with product and business teams to shape feasible and scalable solutions early.
Support integrations with internal and external systems.
Translate evolving product needs into stable backend abstractions.
What You Bring
Experience
58+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments.
Prior ownership of distributed systems or core backend services.
Experience operating systems that require high availability and reliability.
Technical Strengths
Advanced proficiency with
Node.js and modern backend frameworks.
Strong system design fundamentals: concurrency, fault tolerance, data consistency, and scalability.
Hands-on experience with
SQL and NoSQL databases, schema design, and performance optimization.
Experience deploying and running services on
AWS, GCP, or similar cloud platforms.
Strong understanding of REST APIs and asynchronous/event-driven architectures.
Ways of Working
