Senior Backend Engineer
Must-haves for the role
- 4 - 7 years building production backend systems, with deep, current Node.js + Express expertise (async patterns, streaming, memory/perf, the module ecosystem).
- Deep MongoDB expertise — schema/data modeling for real workloads, indexing strategy, the aggregation framework, query profiling and optimization, and the operational realities of a database shared by many services. Strong Mongoose experience.
- TypeScript proficiency and experience migrating JavaScript codebases to it incrementally.
- Distributed-systems fundamentals — inter-service HTTP contracts, message queues/task backbones, idempotency, retries, caching (Redis), and the failure modes of a shared database.
- API design and auth — designing clean service APIs practical knowledge of authentication/session models and common web security pitfalls.
- Cloud + delivery — comfortable with containerized deploys on AWS (ECS or similar) and CI pipelines.
