Job Overview

We're seeking an experienced Senior Backend and Database Developer and Team Lead for our backend team. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise in full-stack development with extensive experience in backend development, with strong process optimization skills and innovative thinking to drive team efficiency and product quality.

Key Job Responsibilities

Software architecture design

• Architect and oversee development of backend in Node
• Familiarity with MVC and design patterns and have a strong grasp of data structures
• Basic database theory ACID vs eventually consistent, OLTP vs OLAP
• Different types of databases - relational stores, K/V stores, text stores, graph DBs, vector DBs, time series DBs

Database design & structures

• Experience with data modeling concepts including normalization, normal forms, star schema (management and evolution), and dimensional modeling
• Expertise in SQL DBs (MySQL, PostgreSQL), and NoSQL DBs (MongoDB, Redis)
• Data pipeline design based on operational principles. Dealing with failures, restarts, reruns, pipeline changes, and various file storage formats

Backend & API frameworks & other services

• To develop and maintain RESTful, JSON RPC and other APIs for various applications
• Understanding of backend JS frameworks such as Express.js, NestJS, and documentation tools like Postman, Swagger
• Experience with callbacks with Webhooks, callbacks and other event-driven systems, and third-party solution integrations (Firebase, Google Maps, Amplify and others)

QA and testing

• Automation testing and tooling knowledge for application functionality validation and QA
• Experience with testing routines and fixes with various testing tools (JMeter, Artillery or others)
• Load balancers, caching and serving
• Experience with event serving (Apache Kafka and others), caching and processing (Redux, Apache Spark or other frameworks) and scaling (Kubernetes and other systems)
• Experience with orchestrators like Airflow for huge data workloads, Scripting and automation for various purposes including scheduling and logging

Production, Deployment & Monitoring

• Experience of CI/CD pipelines with tools like Jenkins/Circle CI, and Docker for containerization
• Experience in deployment and monitoring of apps on cloud platforms e.g., AWS, Azure and bare metal configurations

Documentation, version control and ticketing

• Version control with Git, and ticketing bugs and features with tools like Jira or Confluence
• Backend documentation and referencing with tools like Swagger, Postman
• Experience in creating ERDs for various data types and models and documentation of evolving models

Experience in AI/ML application backend workflows (e.g: MLFlow) and serving the models

Familiarity with at least one data processing platform (e.g., Spark, Flink, Beam/Google Dataflow, AWS Batch) Experience with Elasticsearch and other client-side data processing frameworks

Understand data management and analytics with metadata catalogs (e.g., AWS Glue), data warehousing (e.g., AWS Redshift)

Data governance

Quality control, policies around data duplication, definitions, company-wide processes around security and privacy
