Farnell (an Avnet company) is looking for passionate people to join our market leading brand.We are recruiting a Senior HCL Commerce Developer (this product was formerly known as WebSphere Commerce (WsC)), based inour Bengaluru office on a hybrid working arrangement.
Job Summary:
- As a Senior WsC Developer, you will integrate the application with all required systems and services and provide clean and easy to use APIs for the frontend part of the system. While your work is usually hidden from the user, you bear the full responsibility for the application's functionality, performance and scalability.
Principal Responsibilities:
- You have worked with HCL Commerce for at least 8years. With demonstrable experience of the REST Client, Catalogue, Payments and Member modules of WsC.
- Ideally you will already have experience of GraphQL, Apollo Client/Server and Typescript programming, so that you can also work across our REACT Adapter layer which fronts our HCL Commerce platform into our Headless frontend.
- You are able to explain good REST API design, caching and refactoring considerations.
- You are keen to specialise in development of our HCL Commerce platform and our Adapter technologies. We are currently moving to HCL Commerce v9, so this is a great time to join our team and steer the technical direction as we adopt many new foundational technologies which this new platform and the cloud bring.
- You will have a good knowledge of Object-Oriented paradigms, SOLID principles and software design patterns
- You have knowledge of relational database systems, SQL and query tuning/optimisation in Oracle ideally,
- Ideally, you have experience with integration into back office systems (e.g., ERP, CRM, BI)
- Any experience of performance tuning of large-scale web apps is also beneficial.
- You are a champion of effective unit, integration, and API tests
- A knowledge of DevOps, infrastructure as a code and provisioning tools is a bonus.

- You are responsible for the system to work behind the scenes, and you know how to write clean modern APIs, integrate with legacy systems and work with databases.
At Farnell you will have the opportunity to be responsible for the Headless services provision on a WebSphere Commerce (v8 - soon to move to v9) and GraphQL driven global website, which takes a revenue of over +$1bn/yr.
