Role Overview
We're looking for an experienced Backend Engineer to design, build, and maintain scalable backend systems and APIs supporting millions of daily requests. You'll collaborate across teams to deliver high-performance infrastructure, resolve production issues, and continuously improve system reliability and developer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain APIs and backend logic using Node.js, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and AWS (Lambda, EC2, ECS, Fargate, Docker).
- Analyze and optimize backend infrastructure for scalability and performance.
- Debug and resolve production issues with speed and ownership.
- Refactor legacy code for maintainability and testability.
- Collaborate with frontend, product, and design teams to ensure smooth integrations.
- Review pull requests, uphold code quality, and contribute to documentation.
Requirements
- 78+ years of backend experience in high-scale environments (5M+ requests/day).
- Strong proficiency in Node.js, JavaScript, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and AWS stack.
- Experience with GraphQL (23 years) and API design best practices.
- Strong debugging, performance optimization, and system design skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills in remote, async teams.
- Comfortable working USA hours.
- (Bonus) Frontend familiarity with Vue.js or similar frameworks.
