Senior Backend Developer

Summary:

The Backend Developer plays a crucial role in the modernization of the Car Hire Plus module, focusing on converting legacy .NET/SQL Server logic into Spring Boot microservices. This role involves service-layer and integration work, emphasizing reliable, well-tested integration points, particularly through messaging integrations via Kafka and IBM MQ.

Responsibilities:

• Design and build Spring Boot microservices to convert existing .NET business logic for the receiving modules and Car Hire Payable tool.
• Implement and maintain Kafka and IBM MQ messaging integrations between Car Hire Plus and upstream/downstream systems.
• Develop and optimize PostgreSQL data access via Spring Data JPA, including schema and query design.
• Support the SQL Server-to-PostgreSQL data migration and validation effort where applicable.
• Contribute backend services to the Car Hire Payable MVP targeted for the first quarter.
• Participate in the discovery workshop to review existing integration points and data flows.
• Write unit and integration tests covering service and messaging logic to meet CI/CD quality gates.
• Work closely with the existing Car Hire Plus technical lead to align on architecture and integration standards.

Requirements:

• 5 years of backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.

Required Skills:

• Hands-on experience with Kafka and IBM MQ (or comparable enterprise messaging platforms).
• Strong PostgreSQL skills, including schema design and performance tuning.
• Experience converting or integrating with legacy .NET / SQL Server systems.
• Solid understanding of REST API design and Spring Data JPA.
• Experience with Git-based workflows, code review, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Senior-level candidate&mdashrole is not suited for junior or staff-level profiles.
