The Role

We're a small team with big ambitions. We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who will help shape SafeGold's product and marketing strategy by processing, analyzing, and interpreting data. You'll work closely with tech, product, and business teams to design and build scalable application architecture based on real business needs.

You should be strong in PHP, comfortable across relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB), and thrive with independence and ownership.

What You'll Do

• Build and implement robust services and APIs powering our web application

• Write reusable code and libraries for future use

• Optimize applications for speed and scalability

• Implement security and data protection to industry standards

• Monitor both front-end and back-end performance

• Partner with the product team to translate requirements into detailed technical documentation

• Align architecture and technical approach with broader engineering goals

• Mentor and support junior developers

What We're Looking For

• 4–6 years in software development; 2+ years at a product-based startup preferred

• Strong grasp of MVC architecture

• 2–3+ years hands-on with PHP (Laravel experience a strong plus)

• Proficiency across relational and NoSQL databases (MySQL, MongoDB)

• Working knowledge of Python and Django/Flask (good to have)

• Familiarity with modern JS frameworks (AngularJS, ReactJS)

• Solid grounding in design principles for building scalable systems

• Experience with automated testing and unit tests

• Proficient with Git

• 2+ years on AWS (EC2, RDS, Lambda, SQS, ElastiCache)
