Job Description

The AWS Data Engineer will design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance data pipelines on AWS. The role includes ETL development, big data processing, automation, and integration with analytics platforms while ensuring optimal performance, cost-efficiency, and compliance with organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Cloud & Data Engineering

  • Design, develop, and maintain ETL workflows and data pipelines using AWS services such as S3, Glue, EMR, Lambda, and Redshift.
  • Implement distributed data processing using PySpark on AWS EMR or Databricks.
  • Optimize data storage, retrieval, and processing for performance and cost efficiency.

Programming & Automation

  • Develop reusable scripts and automation tools in Python for data ingestion, transformation, and validation.
  • Implement best practices for code quality, testing, and version control (Git).

Data Architecture & Integration

  • Work with structured and unstructured data from multiple sources.
  • Integrate data pipelines with analytics, BI tools, and reporting platforms.
  • Ensure data security, governance, and compliance with organizational standards.

Monitoring & Performance Tuning

  • Monitor data workflows, troubleshoot bottlenecks, and ensure reliability.
  • Optimize Spark jobs and AWS resource utilization for maximum efficiency.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience with AWS services: S3, Glue, EMR, Lambda, Redshift, IAM.
  • Proficiency in Python and PySpark for large-scale data processing.
  • Strong knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Understanding of data lake and data warehouse architectures.
