Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Automation Engineer with 8-12 years of experience to lead the design and development of automated systems and processes. The ideal candidate has a strong background in substation or industrial automation and is proficient in leading teams and coordinating with cross-functional departments. This role requires an expert in communication protocols and a meticulous professional dedicated to maintaining the highest quality and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership: Lead the understanding of project scope and execute all engineering activities from design to implementation. This includes preparing project budget estimates and schedules, and ensuring the final deliverables meet quality standards.
  • System Design: Design substation and industrial automation systems, including network architectures, I/O signal lists, and schematic drawings. You will also prepare Bills of Materials (BOMs)/Bills of Quantities (BOQs) for various equipment.
  • Configuration & Testing: Develop configurations and settings for network switches, data concentrators, RTUs, SCADA systems, and PLCs. You will also perform quality reviews for all project deliverables.
  • Team Coordination & Mentorship: Coordinate design activities with other departments and provide leadership, training, and mentorship to your team members. You must be skilled in delegating tasks and fostering collaboration.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electrical, Electronics, Telecommunications, or Instrumentation.
  • Experience: 8-12 years of work experience in the design, configuration, or testing of substation automation systems or PLC-based projects.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Expert knowledge of standard engineering techniques and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, and IEC-61850.
  • Experience with software tools like SEL AcSELerator RTAC and SEL Architect Diagram Builder is a plus.
  • Experience with HMI systems such as Aveva or Zenon System Platform is a plus.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation projects and experience with US utility clients are advantageous.
  • Personal Attributes: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong attention to detail, and a talent for facilitation, team building, and problem-solving.
