Job Description – Senior Automation Engineer (Offshore)

Position Title: Senior Automation Engineer – Playwright & AI-Driven Test Automation (Offshore)

Location: Offshore – India

Position Summary

We are seeking a strong Automation Engineer with deep expertise in coding and automation development, particularly in Playwright-based automation frameworks. The candidate should be highly adaptable, capable of working across multiple automation technologies, and comfortable supporting functional testing and database testing efforts depending on project needs.

The role also requires exposure to AI tools and Agentic AI concepts to help drive modern automation strategies and improve testing efficiency, with a strong emphasis on customer journey automation for SaaS platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scalable automation frameworks using Playwright.
• Create automation scripts for UI, API, regression, smoke, database, and end-to-end customer journey workflows.
• Build reusable automation components and utilities.
• Support functional testing and database testing activities when required based on sprint/release priorities.
• Participate in requirement analysis, test design, automation planning, and defect analysis.
• Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines and execution environments.
• Debug automation failures and optimize execution reliability.
• Work closely with onsite teams and participate in cross-functional collaboration.
• Evaluate and leverage AI-enabled automation approaches and tools.
• Contribute to framework enhancements and automation best practices.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience in automation testing.
• Strong coding skills in TypeScript/JavaScript (preferred), Java, or Python.
• Hands-on experience with Playwright Automation.
• Strong understanding of automation framework concepts and reusable design patterns.
• Experience with API automation, database validation, and customer journey automation.
• Knowledge of CI/CD integration tools (Jenkins/GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps).
• Strong analytical and debugging skills.
• Ability to adapt quickly to new automation frameworks and tools.
• Experience with functional testing and database testing.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Good communication and coordination skills.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in Salesforce, SAP, Finance, or enterprise SaaS applications.
• Exposure to SQL/database validation.
• Knowledge of AI-based testing tools and AI-assisted automation.
• Familiarity with Agentic AI concepts in testing and automation workflows.
• Exposure to cloud-based testing environments.
• SaaS domain and industry knowledge will be a strong plus.
