Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Tax Compliance & Reporting Specialist to manage Australian tax compliance, investor reporting, and tax documentation for our clients. The role involves coordination with cross-functional teams, external advisors, and fund administrators to ensure accurate and timely tax filings and reporting.

Key Responsibilities: -

  • Annual Compliance & Filings: Coordinate and review Australian Federal and State tax filings ensure timely and accurate disclosures.
  • Quarterly Estimates: Calculate and file estimated tax payments; maintain supporting workpapers and reconciliations.
  • AAS/AASB Audit Support: Assist with tax provisions, deferred tax calculations, and footnote documentation for audits.
  • ATO Exemptions: Monitoring & determining eligibility for exemptions like remitting amounts to the ATO via single touch payroll
  • Tax Structuring: Prepare equity playbooks and tax memos; support deal structuring and tax-efficient distribution planning.
  • Tax Authority Correspondence: Track and respond to ATO Tax legislations/state notices; escalate and coordinate with legal and external advisors.
  • Tax Form Management: Prepare and update Australian tax forms (TFN, NAT0 660, NAT 0659, NAT 71121); ensure compliance and documentation accuracy.
  • Withholding & Exemptions: Apply PAYG withholding rules (CFI, Treaty Relief, interest withholding tax exemptions, etc); determine exemption eligibility and maintain accurate records.
  • Legal Document Integration: Update Ontra (or similar platforms) with tax terms, filing statuses, and compliance checkpoints from legal agreements.
  • Client Coordination: Serve as a key contact for tax-related client communications; ensure timely updates and document uploads to internal and external platforms.
  • Data Reconciliation: Reconcile investor/entity data between internal systems and external platforms.
  • PFIC Statement Management: Request, track, and manage PFIC statements for relevant entities.

Key competencies: -

  • 7+ years of experience in Australian taxation, preferably in tax compliance, legal/tax advisory firms.
  • Strong knowledge of Partnership taxation, Individual taxation, Trust, PAYG Reporting and Investment fund structures (FoFs, Private Equity, Credit).
  • Hands-on experience with Australian withholding tax rules and exemption certifications & notice management
  • Familiarity with tax compliance software (e.g., GoSystem, CCH Axcess, OneSource, Enterprise tax reporting and compliance) and tax research tools (e.g., CCH iKnowConnect, Checkpoint, ATO Website).
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • CA, CPA Australia preferred.
  • Excellent in MS Excel to process varied data sets
  • Ability to work effectively under tight deadlines,s hould be an independent contributor and his/her work require minimal QC
