The Patient Finance Counselor will be responsible for providing financial guidance and assistance to patients regarding their healthcare expenses. This role involves explaining billing processes, insurance coverage, and payment options, as well as assisting patients with financial arrangements and addressing their concerns.

Roles & Responsibilities

The Patient Finance Counselor will be responsible for:

  • Financial Counseling:
  • Conducting financial counseling sessions with patients to explain their medical bills, insurance benefits, and payment responsibilities.
  • Assisting patients in understanding their insurance coverage, including deductibles, co-pays, and co-insurance.
  • Explaining hospital billing processes and procedures to patients.
  • Providing information on available payment options, including cash, credit cards, and installment plans.
  • Payment Arrangements:
  • Establishing payment plans with patients who are unable to pay their bills in full, following hospital policies and procedures.
  • Negotiating payment arrangements with patients, as necessary.
  • Assisting patients with applications for financial assistance programs, if eligible.
  • Insurance and Billing:
  • Verifying patient insurance coverage and ensuring accurate billing information.
  • Liaising with insurance companies to resolve billing issues and discrepancies.
  • Assisting patients with appealing denied insurance claims.
  • Customer Service and Communication:
  • Providing exceptional customer service to patients, addressing their financial concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Communicating effectively with patients, families, and hospital staff.
  • Maintaining accurate and confidential patient financial records.
  • Compliance and Regulations:
  • Adhering to all hospital policies and procedures related to patient financial services.
