To ensure NIPL international products and cross-border transaction flows comply with all applicable domestic and international regulatory, scheme, and partner-country requirements, while enabling secure, seamless product rollouts and ongoing operations.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical professional to join our team as a Product Compliance. This role ensures that our products and processes adhere to applicable regulatory, compliance, and operational guidelines
Understanding API based integrations and product journeys will be an added advantage.
What you'll do
1. Regulatory Compliance:
- Monitor, interpret, and implement regulatory guidelines issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI), NPCI, and other relevant authorities related to UPI operations.
- Maintain compliance with PCI DSS, data privacy, AML/CFT, and sanctions screening obligations.
- Ensure NIPL products comply with data security standards, Know Your Customer (KYC) norms, and anti-money laundering (AML) guidelines.
- Liaze with banks to understand/interpret the applicable guidelines & processes
2. Product Compliance Oversight:
- Review product features and cross-border transaction flows
- Draft compliance checklists and frameworks for new international launches.
3.Stakeholder Management:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop compliance policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance is embedded at design stage
- Create robust mechanisms for ongoing monitoring of product compliance.
- Interface with member banks, PSPs, and international partners on compliance queries and audits.
3. Monitoring and Reporting:
- Conduct regular internal audits of processes, SOP, product documents to assess compliance risks, identify gaps and closure of gaps.
- Prepare regulatory and internal reports on cross-border transactions, chargebacks, and disputes
- Track compliance metrics (KYC/AML flags, transaction monitoring alerts, merchant category restrictions, etc.).
- Prepare and submit periodic compliance reports to product head
- Lead internal/external audits and remedial actions.
4. Policy and Training:
- Draft and update compliance SOPs for RuPay & UPI international products.
- Conduct training for internal teams and member institutions on compliance obligations.5. Risk Management:
Experience :-
- 58 years of experience in payment systems compliance, regulatory affairs, or a similar role, preferably in the UPI ecosystem.
- Hands-on experience with NPCI guidelines and UPI product processes.
Key Skills and competencies:
- Strong knowledge of payments regulations (RBI, FEMA, FATF, PCI DSS, DPDPA,
- Understanding of card schemes (Visa/Mastercard/UnionPay),QR-based cross-border payments, cross-border P2P remittances.
- Knowledge of FEMA,; Liberalized Remittance Scheme (LRS), KYC Master Direction, Wire Transfer Guidelines, Rupee Drawing Arrangement (RDA), MTSS, Regulatory Reportin.
- Experience in risk management, AML/CFT controls, and chargeback/dispute handling.
- Ability to interpret technical product flows (APIs, ISO 8583/20022 messages, tokenization).
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Awareness of GDPR, partner-country laws desirable
Educational :
Graduate/Post-graduate in Law, Finance, Management, or related fields.
5-8 years of experience in compliance, risk, or product roles within card schemes, payment networks, banks, or fintechs.
Prior exposure to cross-border payments or international remittance regulations preferred.
Certifications like CAMS, CFE, CISA or PCI DSS knowledge a plus.
KPIs / Success Measures:
Zero/low regulatory findings or penalties.
Timely approvals for new product launches.
Effective partner onboarding and compliance monitoring.
High internal and external stakeholder satisfaction scores.
