Responsibilities

Roles & responsibilities

We are recruiting for the Sr. Associate position in the UK High Net worth Individual (Private Client) Tax team.

  • Prepare UK Trust Accounts in line with UK GAAP, including income & expenditure statements, balance sheets, capital accounts, life tenant accounts, and investment summaries.
  • Post and reconcile all income, expenses, accruals, capital transactions, disposal proceeds, reinvestments, and yearend adjustments for accruals based on supporting documents.
  • Ensure full reconciliations between opening balances, investments, bank accounts, capital and income accounts, and final accounts.
  • Prepare UK Trust and Estate Tax Returns (SA900) along with all relevant supplementary pages (SA107, SA102, SA108, etc.).
  • Analyse trust deeds and supporting documentation to apply correct tax treatment for IIP, Discretionary, Bare, Will, and Settlorinterested trusts.
  • Compute income tax liabilities, capital gains tax, share pool adjustments, and prepare R185 certificates for beneficiaries.
  • Review investment portfolios, bank statements, income reports, and prioryear files to ensure completeness of taxable income.
  • Carry out Inheritance Tax (IHT) calculations for trusts and estates, including:
  • Periodic (10-year) charges
  • Exit charges
  • Identify missing information, raise clear and concise queries to the onshore team, and follow up as required.
  • Support reviewers with clarifications and promptly address review comments.

Qualifications

Educational qualifications

  • Bachelors/ Master degree from a reputable university with excellent academic result, majoring in accounting or finance or technology or a similar field.
  • ATT qualification would be an advantage.

Mandatory technical & functional skills

  • Minimum of 2 - 4 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software programs, including MS Outlook and Excel
