Job Title: Senior Assistant Director
Department: Transport Infrastructure (Roads & Highways, Railways, Ports & Shipping)

ROLE PURPOSE
Driving strategic initiatives across the transport infrastructure ecosystem, focusing on policy advocacy, industry engagement, revenue generation, and knowledge leadership in the Roads, Railways, Ports, and Shipping sectors. The role requires deep engagement with government bodies, infrastructure companies, and global stakeholders to influence policy and promote sectoral growth.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Membership Growth & Industry Engagement
- Develop and execute strategies to onboard and retain leading organizations across roads, railways, ports, shipping, and multimodal logistics
- Build strong relationships with infrastructure developers, EPC companies, operators, investors, and consultants
- Act as a senior interface for member engagement, ensuring high-value participation in committee activities
- Drive industry participation in forums, consultations, and initiatives
2. Revenue Generation & Sponsorships
- Lead revenue generation through sponsorships, partnerships, and sector-focused events
- Conceptualize and monetize flagship infrastructure summits, roundtables, and delegations
- Develop long-term partnerships with corporates, PSUs, and multilateral institutions
- Ensure consistent year-on-year growth in committee revenue
3. Government & Policy Advocacy
- Engage with key line ministries
- Track policy, regulatory, and infrastructure development trends across sectors
- Develop policy papers, recommendations, and consultation responses
- Facilitate high-level interactions with government officials (JS-level and above) and other relevant stakeholders
- Represent industry concerns in policy discussions and regulatory forums
4. Thought Leadership & Knowledge Development
- Lead development of sectoral reports, whitepapers, and knowledge publications
- Develop industry-backed policy recommendations on emerging sectoral issues and drive continuous engagement with government for advocacy and follow-ups.
- Build visibility through media engagement, articles, and conference speaking opportunities
5. Program Leadership & Execution
- Provide strategic direction for conferences, summits, and stakeholder consultations
- Curate agendas and onboard high-profile speakers from government and industry
- Oversee execution of events ensuring quality, impact, and stakeholder satisfaction
- Drive participation from domestic and international stakeholders
6. Collaboration & Partnerships
- Foster collaborations with global bodies, think tanks, and academia
- Drive joint initiatives, research collaborations, and co-branded programs with other departments of FICCI
- Enhance industry participation through partnerships and sponsorships for joint FICCI initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
- Postgraduate degree in Management, Economics, Public Policy, International Business or related field (specialization in Transport would be an added advantage)
- 10-14 years of relevant experience in industry associations, consulting or sector specific business development
- Strong understanding of industry trends, policy environment and stakeholder ecosystem
- Excellent communication, presentation and networking skills
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and stakeholders
- Experience in sponsorship mobilization
