Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Manager of Team -Java Architectto guide the design, development, and delivery of large-scale, enterprise-grade applications. In this hybrid role, you will combine hands-on architectural expertise with strong leadership capabilities to mentor developers, drive engineering excellence, and shape the technical direction of our application.
This position requires a deep understanding of modern Java technologies, cloud-native architectures, and best practices for scalable, secure, and high-performing systems. This role acts as a bridge between development, operations, architecture, and security teams to ensure smooth and reliable software delivery. The ideal candidate is hands-on, collaborative, and passionate about automation, reliability, and continuous improvement.

What You Should Bring:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
- Java & Backend Engineering experience: Spring Boot, Spring Data / JPA, REST API design and integration patterns
- Experience in Microservices architecture & domain-driven de sign (DDD), High-level system design (scalability, reliability, high availability)
- Experience with containerization: Docker, Orchestration: Kubernetes (K8s), CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, etc.)
- Strong understanding of multithreading, concurrency, and performance tuning
- Strong leadership presence and ability to motivate diverse engineering teams.
- Strong understanding of Agile, Scrum, and scaling frameworks (SAFe).
- Strategic thinker with the ability to make informed technical decisions.
- Proactive problem-solver with a focus on outcomes and quality.
- Background working in large / global enterprise environments and multicultural teams. Willingness to work in mixed teams with colleagues from Germany.
- Familiarity with tools like Jira, Confluence.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Interest in taking responsibility for exciting and innovative projects that further digitalize Deutsche Post / DHL.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written in English .
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of DevOps engineers, including goal setting, performance reviews, and skill development.
- Foster a collaborative culture focused on innovation, ownership, quality, and continuous improvement, considering working in global teams
- Prioritize workload, allocate tasks, and ensure high-quality and timely delivery.
DevOps Engineering & Operations
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Azure DevOps, Jenkins, GitHub Actions).
- Ensure high availability, reliability, and scalability of production and non-production environments.
- Drive automation across infrastructure, deployments, testing, and monitoring.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
- Work closely with development teams to streamline build, release, and deployment processes.
- Partner with platform and security teams to ensure compliance with enterprise standards.
- Communicate project progress, risks, and dependencies to leadership and business stakeholders.
Security & Compliance
- Implement DevSecOps best practices, including automated security scanning and compliance checks.
- Ensure adherence to corporate security standards, data protection regulations, and audit requirements.
