The Senior Analyst Power BI Testing ensures the accuracy, reliability, and robustness of RCoE's Power BI reporting suite. The role involves end to end testing of new and updated reports, conducting daily data quality checks, validating data against source systems, identifying root causes of data or refresh issues, and maintaining key documentation such as glossaries and metadata. The analyst partners closely with BI developers and Tech teams, builds strong functional understanding of source systems, and supports high standards of data integrity and reporting consistency across a global finance environment.
Job Description:
- Power BI Report Testing & Quality Assurance
- Conduct endtoend functional and data testing for new/enhanced reports before UAT and production release.
- Validate calculations, filters, hierarchies, navigation, RLS/OLS, visuals, and KPIs for accuracy and business relevance.
- Perform regression testing during refresh cycles, model changes, or source updates.
- Collaborate with BI developers to triage, track, and retest defects.
- Daily Data Quality Control (QC)
- Review daily QC checks for data availability, completeness, and refresh status.
- Diagnose data gaps, spikes, mismatches using source extracts and refresh logs.
- Work with Tech teams on refresh failures or schedule delays.
- Recommend improvements for QC automation and monitoring.
- Functional Data Understanding & Source System Awareness
- Build strong knowledge of core source systems and data flows (UMS, SAC, BPC, D365, market reporting).
- Track upstream changes and assess impact on report logic, models, and visuals.
- Engage with SMEs to understand KPIs, definitions, mappings, and metric uplift needs.
- Issue Resolution & Collaboration with BI Tech Team
- Perform detailed rootcause analysis for data discrepancies, refresh failures, performance issues, and visual inconsistencies.
- Work closely with BI Tech teams for timely resolution.
- Document findings, RCA notes, and recommendations.
- Metadata, Glossary & Documentation Management
- Maintain and update the RCoE report glossary with business definitions, KPIs, and source logic.
- Support reporting catalogue alignment and maintenance.
- Ensure version control, test scripts, access logs, and issue logs are wellorganized and auditready.
- Governance, Compliance & Ways of Working
- Provide updates in governance forums on testing status, data issues, and access compliance.
- Contribute to continuous improvement in testing frameworks, QC automation, and knowledge sharing.
Required Skills & Experience
- 35 years in Power BI testing, data validation, QC, or BI support (68 years total experience).
- Finance domain knowledge (P&L, Revenue, Margins, Cost Centres) is a plus.
- Exposure to UMS, SAC, BPC, D365, or similar systems.
- Handson SQL or advanced Excel for data validation.
- Ability to diagnose complex data and refresh issues across upstream systems.
- Experience collaborating with global, crossfunctional teams.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Experience with QA automation or monitoring tools is an advantage.
