Senior Analyst- Energy

Reports To: Manager

Department: Professional Services - Asset & Wealth Management

Location: Gurugram

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced professional (3–5 years) with strong domain expertise in the Energy sector, particularly Oil & Gas, to provide technology-enabled research support. The role involves synthesizing multi-source data into client-ready insights, building sector and company models, preparing reports, and delivering actionable recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Synthesize complex, multi-source data into high impact deliverables, including reports, presentations, and client ready insights focused on the Energy domain (Oil & Gas, EPNG).
  • Apply technology enabled approaches to translate data and research into clear, actionable insights tailored to client needs.
  • Exposure to adjacent sectors such as E&P / EPNG and Metals & Mining is a strong plus.
  • Leverage domain expertise to deliver high quality, insight driven outputs across Energy sector projects.
  • Demonstrate working proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Leading and developing teams of analysts and managers in dynamic market conditions, evolving client needs, and the adoption of new technologies (like GenAI in research)
  • Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate insights and recommendations.

Core Competencies

  • Possess strong domain knowledge and secondary/market research capabilities across the Oil & Gas value chain, including: Upstream, midstream, and downstream segments Supply–demand dynamics, trade flows, and sector outlook, Oil & gas exploration techniques ,Transportation, refining, storage, and distribution infrastructure
  • Demonstrate familiarity with: Decarbonization trends, energy transition themes, and sustainability initiatives
  • Key regulatory frameworks impacting the sector
  • Handle quick turnaround requests while maintaining high standards of accuracy and insight quality.
  • Lead end to end project delivery with minimal supervision, including scoping, execution, and review.
  • Mentor and guide junior analysts on research methodologies, analytical approaches, and domain knowledge.
  • Confidently manage unstructured, open ended problem statements, providing well reasoned guidance and solutions to clients.
  • Working proficiency with leading research and business intelligence databases, and GenAI tools, including: Perplexity, ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.
  • S&P Capital IQ, Factiva, OneSource, Hoovers, Crunchbase, and TOFLER

Required Qualifications

  • Ideally, an engineering background in Oil & Gas / Petroleum Exploration, with an MBA (Oil & Gas preferred).
  • 3–5 years of experience working with market research or management consulting firms in the Energy domain (Oil & Gas / EPNG).
  • Proven experience working on tight deadlines, including quick turnaround requests (hours rather than days).
  • Experience across both short cycle and long term projects is an added advantage.
