Role Overview
The Senior Analyst will support accounting operations, financial reporting, analysis, and client delivery activities across a portfolio of US-based clients. The role combines hands-on accounting with financial analysis and reporting. You will be responsible for preparing and analyzing financial statements, supporting monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting, managing day-to-day accounting activities, performing variance analysis, and ensuring timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes.
This role is ideal for someone with a strong foundation in accounting who enjoys understanding the story behind the numbers, identifying variances and trends, and translating financial data into meaningful insights.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting
- Prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements and financial reports.
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages.
- Manage day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger maintenance.
- Perform bank, balance sheet, vendor, customer, and general ledger reconciliations.
- Ensure accounting transactions are accurately recorded, classified, and supported by appropriate documentation.
- Review financial data for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
Month-End & Year-End Close
- Support timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and other closing adjustments as required.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate outstanding or unusual items.
- Maintain organized close files and supporting schedules.
- Identify and resolve discrepancies before final reporting.
Financial Analysis & Variance Reporting
- Conduct variance analysis to identify trends, deviations, and key financial insights.
- Compare actual performance against budgets, forecasts, and prior periods.
- Investigate significant fluctuations and prepare clear explanations for management review.
- Support the preparation of management reports, KPI analysis, and financial dashboards.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and research as required.
Compliance & Accounting Standards
- Ensure accounting activities comply with applicable GAAP, IFRS, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain awareness of relevant accounting principles and reporting requirements.
- Support audit, tax, and compliance-related activities by preparing required schedules and documentation.
- Ensure financial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with established accounting policies and procedures.
Process Improvement & Client Delivery
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting workflows, and financial controls.
- Participate in ad hoc accounting, reporting, and analytical projects.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and client stakeholders to resolve accounting and reporting issues.
- Maintain high standards of accuracy, documentation, and timeliness across all deliverables.
- Contribute to the development and standardization of accounting processes and reporting templates.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis, or related roles.
- Experience gained in a CA firm, accounting firm, finance outsourcing environment, or similar accounting environment preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and regulatory requirements.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger accounting, and account reconciliations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software such as QuickBooks or similar platforms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
Preferred
- Experience working with US-based clients or US accounting processes.
- Knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS.
- Experience with QuickBooks Online, Xero, or other cloud-based accounting platforms.
- Experience in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or management reporting.
- CA Inter, ACCA, CMA, MBA Finance, or equivalent qualification or progress toward such qualificatio
