Role overview

- Expected to work on e-commerce search problems involving large volumes of complex, real-world structured and unstructured text data, image data, ontologies and databases.

- Expected to lead small teams of junior AI researchers and take ownership of solving problems

- Expected to stay aware of AI research by reading recent papers in AI / ML/ DL / NLP / Computer Vision and make use of the state of the art in such areas for solving problems

- Should be comfortable in analysing data, performing error analysis, and debugging, tuning and modifying research code based on such analysis to optimise performance.

- The ideal candidate should be willing to get to the heart of a problem by asking deep questions and then thinking out of the box to find solutions.

Educational Qualification:

- PhD in CS / ECE / EE / AI / ML / Data Science, OR

- MS / MTech in CS / ECE / EE / AI / ML / Data Science with >5 years of work experience in AI research and development

Publication Track Record:

(Co-)author (and ideally, first author) of at least 3 published research papers in CORE A* / CORE A venues in AI / ML / DL / NLP / Computer Vision conferences

Knowledge / Skills

- Strong fundamental knowledge in Deep Learning (e.g. encoder-decoder model, transformer, CNN, GAN, etc.) and Machine Learning (e.g. generative and discriminative classification, regression, dimensionality reduction, clustering, etc) models and algorithms

- Comfortable with fundamental concepts of Probability & Statistics, Linear Algebra and Optimization

- Strong fundamental knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms

Coding

- Python with expertise in packages for ML, Statistics, Data handling such as Scikit-learn, Scipy, Numpy, Matplotlib, Pandas, and Tensorflow (Essential)

- C/C++/Java (Preferred)

- Knowledge of state of the art in research in either NLP or Computer Vision

Communication and collaboration skills

- Fluent in spoken and written English

- Ability to work and collaborate in teams

Experience

- Hands-on experience with training, tuning and executing deep learning models

- Hands-on experience with modifying deep learning research code

- Formal experience (e.g. as part of a college curriculum or company project) in leading ML / DL projects

- Formal experience in working towards and meeting deadlines
