Senior Agentic AI Engineer I

Job Summary

The Senior Agentic AI Engineer I will be responsible for designing, building, and enhancing intelligent, agent-based AI solutions that enable scalable, reliable, and secure automation across the enterprise. This role focuses on developing and orchestrating AI agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio and AI Foundry, integrating large language models, tools, workflows, and enterprise data sources to solve complex business problems. The engineer will partner closely with product, application, platform, data, security, and operations teams to deliver responsible, production-ready AI capabilities that improve productivity, decision-making, and user experience. The ideal candidate has strong software engineering fundamentals, hands-on experience with agentic AI systems in Microsoft's AI ecosystem, and a passion for building robust, governable, and extensible AI-driven solutions.

Job Responsibilities

•

Design, develop, and maintain agentic AI solutions using Microsoft Copilot Studio and AI Foundry to support enterprise use cases.

•

Build and orchestrate multi-agent workflows that integrate large language models, tools, APIs, and business processes.

•

Implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and grounding strategies using enterprise data sources while ensuring security and compliance.

•

Develop reusable prompts, agent components, tools, and orchestration patterns to accelerate delivery and promote consistency.

•

Collaborate with application, data, platform, security, and governance teams to embed best practices for responsible and secure AI.

•

Integrate AI agents with cloud-native services and APIs hosted on Azure to enable end-to-end intelligent solutions.

•

Contribute to evaluation, monitoring, and observability of AI agents, including quality, performance, safety, and cost metrics.

•

Participate in code reviews, design reviews, testing, and troubleshooting to ensure high-quality, maintainable AI solutions.

•

Continuously identify opportunities to automate workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve system intelligence and scalability.

•

Stay current with advancements in agentic AI, Microsoft Copilot capabilities, and Azure AI services, and apply best practices to solutions.

Basic Qualifications

•

Bachelor's degree and at least 4 years of experience in Engineering, Software Engineering, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field OR a High School Diploma/GED and at least 7 years of experience in Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.

•

Experience designing and building software solutions in an enterprise environment.

•

Experience developing AI-enabled applications or automation using modern programming languages.

•

Experience working with large language models or AI services in production scenarios.

•

Experience integrating APIs, tools, or workflows into software or AI-driven systems.

•

Experience troubleshooting complex technical issues and implementing effective solutions.

•

Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver production-ready solutions.

•

At least 1 year of direct leadership, indirect leadership, and/or cross-functional team leadership.

•

Willing to travel up to 10% of the time for business purposes (within state and out of state).

Preferred Qualifications

•

4+ years of experience in software engineering with at least 2 years focused on AI, conversational AI, or agent-based systems.

•

Hands-on experience building agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio and AI Foundry.

•

Experience with Azure AI services, including Azure OpenAI, prompts, embeddings, and tool/function calling.

•

Strong programming experience in one or more languages such as Python (preferred), Java, or Scala.

•

Experience designing agent orchestration patterns, multi-step workflows, and human-in-the-loop solutions.

•

Familiarity with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), vector search, and enterprise data integration patterns.

•

Understanding of responsible AI principles, security, privacy, and governance for AI systems.

•

Experience deploying and operating AI solutions in cloud environments such as Azure.

•

Strong problem-solving skills, communication skills, and ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.
