A Day in the Life

Our Global Diabetes Capability Center in Pune is expanding to serve more people living with diabetes globally. Our state-of-the-art facility is dedicated to transforming diabetes management through innovative solutions and Technologies that reduce the burden of living with diabetes.

The Senior Accountant Cash Application is responsible for overseeing the end-to-end cash application process, ensuring accurate and timely allocation of incoming payments. This role sits within the Record to Report (R2R) team of our Shared Service Center and supervises one direct report. Close collaboration with Treasury, Procure to Pay (P2P), Employee Expense Management, and Intercompany teams is essential to maintain efficient cash flow, reconciliation, and outgoing payment processes.

This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Manage and execute daily cash application activities, ensuring all incoming payments are correctly and promptly applied in SAP.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop one direct report in the cash application function.
  • Investigate and resolve unapplied or misapplied payments, working with internal teams and customers.
  • Maintain strong partnership with the Treasury team for bank reconciliations and cash flow accuracy.
  • Collaborate with P2P and Employee Expense Management teams to support outgoing payments and reconcile transactions.
  • Work closely with the Intercompany team to manage and reconcile intercompany cash movements.
  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities, including reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant accounting standards.
  • Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities in the cash application process.
  • Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits.
  • Maintain and update process documentation and standard operating procedures.

Required Knowledge and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5-8 years experience in cash application, accounts receivable, or general accounting, preferably in a shared service center environment.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring team members.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP (FI module required).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
