Job Description

Position: Senior Accountant

Location: Chennai or Madurai (Work from OptiSol Office)

Working Hours: US Business Hours

Employment Type: Full-Time or Contract

Reporting To: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Note: We are looking for a candidate with strong experience in US Accounting. Healthcare

industry experience is optional.

Job Summary

The person serves as the lead accounting officer, directing all financial and accounting

operations for our healthcare organization. This role is responsible for ensuring highly

accurate financial reporting under healthcare accounting standards, optimizing the revenue

cycle, maintaining strict internal controls, and navigating the complex landscape of federal

and Texas state healthcare regulations. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between

financial discipline and clinical operational needs.

Key Responsibilities

Healthcare Financial Management & GAAP

Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.

Prepare comprehensive financial statements specific to healthcare (including tracking

net patient service revenue, contractual allowances, and charity care provisions) in

compliance with GAAP.

Revenue Cycle Oversight & Analysis

Partner with the billing and revenue cycle teams to analyze accounts receivable (AR),

monitor Days Sales Outstanding (DSO), evaluate aging buckets, and ensure accurate

accounting for third-party payor settlements (Medicare, Texas Medicaid, Commercial

Insurance).

Internal Controls & Audit Management

Design and maintain a rigorous system of internal controls to protect assets and

prevent fraud across clinical and administrative sites.

Act as the primary liaison for independent financial audits, state cost report audits,

and federal compliance reviews.

Cost Accounting & Budgeting

Develop, implement, and monitor the annual operating and capital budgets.

Analyze departmental cost allocations (such as labor, medical supplies, and

pharmaceuticals) to identify cost-containment opportunities and efficiency gains.

Team Leadership

Supervise and mentor the accounting department staff, fostering a collaborative

culture that understands the financial nuances of the healthcare delivery system.

Required Qualifications

Education

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Healthcare Administration (with an

accounting focus).

Experience

7–10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3–5 years in a financial

management role within a healthcare setting (e.g., hospital system, large physician

group, outpatient clinic, or long-term care).

Technical Skills

Advanced proficiency in Sage (Intacct).

Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Domain Knowledge

Deep understanding of healthcare reimbursement models, contractual allowances,

third-party payor structures, and federal/state healthcare fraud and abuse laws (such

as Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute).
