Job Description

Position:Seed Production Executive / Senior Seed Production Executive – Agriculture Crops

Department: Production

Reporting To: Head – Seed Production

Location: Assigned production territory

Crop Coverage: Cereals, Pulses, Oilseeds and selected Fodder Crops

Role Purpose

The Seed Production Executive will be responsible for end-to-end execution of certified seed production programmes within the assigned geography, from identification of suitable farmers and fields through crop monitoring, seed-certification compliance, harvesting and delivery of acceptable raw seed to the company's warehouse.

The role requires strong field presence, technical knowledge of seed production and the ability to independently manage farmers, organizers, certification activities and crop-production targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify suitable villages, production clusters, organizers and seed growers.
  • Conduct farmer and field selection based on irrigation, previous crop, isolation, land suitability and farmer capability.
  • Implement crop-wise and variety-wise acreage plans assigned by the Head – Seed Production.
  • Coordinate distribution and complete traceability of breeder/foundation/source seed.
  • Verify actual sowing, acreage, variety and field location.
  • Complete production-programme and Seed Certification Agency registration within prescribed timelines.
  • Conduct regular crop-stage field visits and maintain farmer-wise production records.
  • Monitor crop establishment, varietal uniformity, isolation, off-types, volunteer plants, weeds, pests and diseases.
  • Plan and supervise timely rouging to maintain varietal and genetic purity.
  • Coordinate Seed Certification Agency inspections and ensure timely closure of observations.
  • Prepare periodic yield and production estimates and report likely shortages, surpluses and crop risks.
  • Coordinate farmer-wise procurement, raw-seed transportation and intake at the company's processing plant/warehouse.
  • Maintain accurate farmer, field, variety, lot, inspection, production and payment-related documentation.
  • Capture GPS locations, field photographs and other traceability information as prescribed by the company.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with growers and organizers while ensuring adherence to company production protocols.
  • Escalate disease, quality, certification or production risks immediately.
  • Ensure that the assigned programme ultimately delivers certification-compliant, traceable and commercially acceptable seed.

Qualification

Preferred: B.Sc. Agriculture.

M.Sc. Agriculture in Agronomy, Genetics & Plant Breeding, Seed Science & Technology or related subjects will be an advantage.

Experience

Seed Production Executive: approximately 3–6 years of relevant seed-production experience.

Senior Seed Production Executive: approximately 6–10 years of relevant seed-production experience.

Candidates should preferably have hands-on experience in certified seed production of cereals, pulses and/or oilseeds.

Indicative Compensation

Seed Production Executive: 4–6 lakh CTC per annum.

Compensation may vary based on crop expertise, production acreage previously handled and existing grower/organizer networks.

  • Field travel, fuel/mobile allowance and performance-linked incentives may be provided separately.
