About the Team and the Role

Our Security Operations Center (SOC) team protects Origin Medical's people, systems, and data 24x7. We are a small, hands-on team that monitors, detects, and responds to security threats across our endpoints, network, cloud, and business applications.

As a SOC Engineer, you will be the main technical support for our L2/L3 analysts. You will handle threat hunting, vulnerability management, patch management, and compliance tasks, and help make our detection and response stronger. This role needs you to work at night and on rotational shifts.

What will you do

• Monitor, triage, and investigate security alerts from SIEM, EDR, firewall, and cloud tools
• Support L2/L3 analysts in incident investigation, containment, and remediation
• Perform proactive threat hunting using threat intel, IOCs, and MITRE ATT&CK
• Run vulnerability scans, rank findings by risk, and track fixes with IT and engineering teams
• Manage patch management across Windows, macOS, and Linux systems, and track patch compliance
• Create, tune, and test detection rules to reduce false positives
• Follow SOC processes and SOPs for alert triage, escalation, and incident handling
• Meet defined SLAs for alert response, investigation, and incident closure
• Track SLA breaches and help improve response times
• Create, review, and update SOC SOPs, processes, and escalation matrix
• Investigate phishing emails, suspicious logins, and malware alerts
• Analyze logs from firewalls, endpoints, identity platforms, and SaaS applications
• Write and update SOC runbooks, playbooks, and incident reports
• Help build and improve SOC automation workflows
• Guide and support L1 analysts on triage and escalation
• Support compliance and audit activities: collect evidence, map controls, and prepare reports
• Make sure SOC processes follow company security policies and compliance requirements
• Share clear shift handover notes with the team

Who are we looking for

• 2 to 4 years of experience in a SOC or security operations role
• Willing to work in night shifts and rotational shifts, including weekends when needed
• Good networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPN, firewalls, routing, ports, and protocols
• Strong security basics: common attack types, malware, phishing, lateral movement, privilege escalation
• Hands-on experience in threat hunting and incident response
• Hands-on experience in vulnerability management and vulnerability scanning tools
• Hands-on experience in patch management for Windows, macOS, and Linux
• Experience working with SIEM and EDR tools
• Good knowledge of security compliance frameworks like ISO 27001, SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR, and India's DPDP Act
• Experience supporting internal or external security audits
• Good knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and the incident response lifecycle
• Basic knowledge of cloud, identity, and endpoint security
• Basic scripting in Python, Bash, or PowerShell for log analysis and automation
• Good written and verbal communication; able to write clear incident and audit reports
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field
