Role Overview
We are looking for a Security Automation Engineer with a strong software and integration background to design, build, and maintain scalable automation workflows for Gradient Cyber's SOC platform.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with APIs, building integrations, and developing automation systems that connect tools like EDR, email security, SIEM, and cloud platforms.
You will work closely with internal engineering, deployment teams, and customer-facing engineers based in the United States to integrate customer environments into a unified, automated security pipeline using a Security Orchestration, Automation, and Response (SOAR) platform.
This is a backend-focused engineering role with no direct customer interaction.
What You'll Do
- Design and build automation workflows and playbooks using a SOAR platform
- Develop and maintain integrations with security tools (EDR, SIEM, email security), cloud services, and third-party APIs
- Write and maintain API-driven automation, scripts, and connectors
- Collaborate with internal teams and US-based engineers to onboard and integrate customer environments into automated pipelines
- Debug and troubleshoot integration issues, API failures, and workflow logic
- Improve system reliability, performance, and scalability of automation workflows
- Maintain clear technical documentation for integrations, workflows, and architecture
- Contribute to the evolution of a high-scale, automation-first security platform
Required Qualifications
- 23 years of experience in software engineering, automation, or security engineering
- Strong experience working with APIs, webhooks, and system integrations
- Hands-on experience with at least one programming/scripting language (e.g., Python)
- Understanding of how modern tools communicate (REST APIs, JSON, authentication, etc.)
- Ability to debug and troubleshoot integration and automation issues
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and deliver reliable, maintainable solutions
- Fluent in written and spoken English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating tools such as EDR, SIEM, email security platforms, or ticketing systems
- Experience working with multiple SOAR platforms
- Experience working in environments that use automation at scale (SOC, MSSP, or platform teams)
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their APIs
- Understanding of security workflows or incident response concepts (helpful, but not primary)
