Position Overview
As a Security Analyst at DigitalOcean, you'll be an integral part of our security monitoring and incident response function, working closely with global teammates to detect, investigate, and respond to security threats across DigitalOcean's environment.
What You'll Do
- Monitor, triage, and investigate alerts across multi-platform environments (endpoint, identity, network, cloud), utilizing established playbooks to resolve or escalate potential threats where appropriate.
- Conduct proactive threat hunting, leveraging data from multiple sources to identify suspicious activity, misconfigurations, or potential threats
- Support detection engineering efforts — help refine alert logic to reduce false positives and improve signal quality
- Assist with identity and access management investigations (OAuth, SSO, VPN, endpoint authentication)
- Map detections to the MITRE ATT&CK framework to ensure coverage alignment with known adversary tactics, techniques, and procedures
- Establish an understanding of DigitalOcean's corporate and production environments, from applications to infrastructure, keeping up-to-date with material changes and future directions
- Collaborate with IT, DevOps, and Engineering teams to resolve security issues and close tickets efficiently
- Document findings clearly and contribute to runbooks and playbooks
- Participate in an on-call rotation for security monitoring coverage
Key Responsibilities
- Security Operations Monitoring: Investigate and analyze detections from a diverse set of security tools within a high-availability, 24/7/365 operational environment to ensure proactive threat detection and continuous protection.
- Assist in Incident Response: Conduct thorough investigations of alerts, evaluate the scope of the attack, identify affected systems, and determine the necessary steps for further analysis.
- Threat Intelligence and Awareness: Stay informed on emerging and existing threats by analyzing attacker tactics, techniques, and procedures, and reviewing security event reports to proactively strengthen defenses.
What You'll Add To DigitalOcean
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience with 2- 3 years of experience in Security operations, SOC or related IT/security role
- Basic understanding of security monitoring concepts — SIEM, EDR, identity security, cloud security
- Familiarity with log analysis and investigation workflows
- Good communication skills — able to clearly describe findings and ask the right questions
- Curiosity and a desire to learn; comfortable working in ambiguous situations
- Experience with any of the following is a plus: SentinelOne, Google Workspace security, Jira, SIEM platforms
Nice to Have
- Exposure to detection engineering or writing/tuning alert rules
- Understanding of cloud environments (DigitalOcean, AWS, GCP, or similar)
- Scripting/automation basics (Python, Bash) for triage tooling
- Security certifications (CompTIA Security+, Google Cybersecurity Certificate, or similar)
This is a hybrid role based out of Bengaluru, India.
