• Work Place Safety of existing operational plants and projects

• Implementation of mitigation plan through risk analysis
• Facilitating the use of tools/techniques by employees and continuously evaluation for its effectiveness.
• Tools & Techniques opted :

• Selection of appropriate PPEs based on the hazards by conducting the hazard assessment and job/risk exposure
• PPEs selection
• To put in place need based safety training Plan based on appraisal feedback, discussion with HODs
• Ensure that Units prepare and implement department-wise training schedule and calendar
• Providing External/Internal resources for training
• Impart safety training to new entrants (contractor, workmen, staff i.e. induction on safety)
• Evaluation of training to assess its effectiveness
• Develop & Train cross functional members in Site Emergency Response Team (ERT)
• Behaviour based safety compliance

• Process Safety Management

• Ensure the implementation of PSM elements
• Updating and preparation of PT - Process Technology Documents for existing and new projects from initial phase of projects
• Carry out Quantitative and Qualitative Risk Assessments with the help of External agency and site cross functional team
• Ensure the availability of SOP for all operations in respective department, JCC for the same.
• MOC - Management of Change for proposed modification in existing system
• PSSR - Pre Start-up Safety Review before any proposed facility taken into use
• Ensure the compliance of Contractor working at site
• Emergency Preparedness and Response
• Incident reporting with coordination with concern department
• Incident Investigation for root cause analysis and recommendations within time bound manner with cross functional personnel
• Monthly PSM Review Meeting with Unit head

• Legal Aspects

• Ensure the compliance of The Factories Acts, The Gujarat Factories Rules, The Gas Cylinder Rules, The Petroleum Rules, The Manufacturing, Storage and Import of Hazardous Chemicals Rules at site, furnish information to concern government body as demanded
• Application for New / renewal / amendment of existing licenses from PESO under various rules
• Fire NOC from Regional Fire Office, Surat
• Poison License renewal / new / amendment from District Collector and its half yearly return submission
• Conducting Safety Committees Meeting as per Legal requirements
• Preparation of different documents to obtain specific permission, license from concern authority
• Yearly Third Party Safety Audit by external agency, its compliance for the same.
• Preparation of On Site Emergency Plan, Off Site Emergency Plan, Project Safety Plan, Safety manual, Safety report etc.
• Compliance of Factory Inspector Visits and its recommendations

• Fire Safety & Emergency Preparedness

• Maintain Fire Pump House, Emergency Vehicles, Fire Fighting Facilities and Emergency Equipment's in good working conditions to mitigate any emergency situation within stipulated time by weekly inspection and maintenance
• Selection and procurement of required Safety PPE's, Fire Fighting Facilities and Emergency Equipment's
• Daily reporting of DCO, Firemen and safety stewards
• Quarterly Inspection of Fire Extinguishers from Third Party and maintained their records
• Monthly inspection and maintenance of Diesel Pumps by Third Party as a part of Preventive Maintenance
• Monthly, Bi-monthly and Quarterly Mock Drills and Fire Drills on identified emergency scenarios with coordination of concern plant as a part of emergency preparedness and response
• Vigilance at Dispatch areas by Safety Stewards to ensure the safe loading/unloading activities by dedicated filling operator to avoid any work at height, splash related injuries
• Attained fire and emergency call received from surrounding industries and villages by use of multi-purpose fire tender and experienced fire team
• Developing Emergency Response Team - ERT and their refresher training on monthly basis for its utilization in case of any emergency situation

• Others

• Monthly meeting of sub committees as per defined charter
• Monthly APEX meetings, their MoM, compliance of open points as discussed.
• Monthly Safety Heads meeting of DCA Business
• Compilation of monthly department data, analysis and furnish to corporate safety for Business Safety Steering Committee Meeting lead by GEP
• Gas Monitoring of confined space in different plants before proceeding for confined space entry
• Six monthly calibration of Gas Monitoring Detectors
• Selection, procurement and implementation of CAPEX items to strengthen the existing safety culture
• Preparation of department documents as per IMS requirements, review and updation
• Audit by Legal cell and its compliance
• Budget preparation, monitoring for effective utilization

• Environment System

• Close monitoring of environment parameters.
• ETP Operation knowledge
• Maintain environment related parameters as per company's & applicable statutory & Regulatory Requirements (within process limits).
• Over see the implementation of corrective actions to remove environment deviations
• Implementation & Monitoring of AIA & Waste Management at the work place.
• Coordinate with maintenance department to carry out all scheduled maintenance activities.
• Environment legal compliance - form filing
• Liosioning with legal authorities
• To Fill, upload application and Technical liaison with respect to NOC and CCA at regional office and Head office of GPCB for Chemical Processing, Bulk Drugs and Dyes & Intermediates
• Environmental Impact Assessment study from application preparation to ToR and EC Presentation at SEIAA for Chemical Process Industry. EIA studies for various chemical sector projects
• To carry out Environment Audits of Schedule 1 and 2 with authorized agencies and Internal Environment audits
