Job Description
Seamedu School of Media is seeking a dynamic and committed academic professional to join our faculty team as an Assistant Professor/Faculty in Media and Communication Studies. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong foundation in English Literature and/or Mass Communication, combined with a passion for teaching communication, professional, and ethical competencies required in today's industry-ready graduates.
The selected candidate will play a key role in developing students communication, critical thinking, ethical awareness, and professional skills by effectively integrating theory with real-world applications. The faculty member is expected to contribute to interdisciplinary teaching, curriculum development, and student mentoring while aligning learning outcomes with industry and societal needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging and application-oriented courses at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in subjects such as:

- Soft Skills and Professional Skills
- Organizational Behaviour
- Media Laws and Ethics
- Professional Ethics
- Sustainability and Responsible Communication
- Business and Corporate Communication (where applicable)
- Media and Sustainability
- Environmental Science
- Media and Culture
- Design and deliverinteractive classroom sessionsusing case studies,role plays, simulations, presentations, debates, and experiential learning methods.
- Bridge theoretical conceptsfrom communication, literature, and media studieswith real-world organizational and societal contexts.
- Collaborate with facultymembers to design,review, and update curricula alignedwith academic standards, industry expectations, and emerging communication trends.
- Mentor students on projects, presentations, research work, internships, and professional development activities.
- Guide students in developing workplace readiness, interpersonal communication, leadership, and ethical decision-making skills.
- Contribute to research, publications, conferences, and seminars in the areas of communication, media studies,organizational behaviour, ethics,or sustainability.
- Establish and maintainindustry and academiclinkages for guestlectures, workshops, seminars, panel discussions, and live projects.
- Organize communication labs, skill-development workshops, debates, public speaking sessions, and interdisciplinary events.
- Stay updated with contemporary developments in communication practices, media regulations, professional ethics, sustainability discourse, and pedagogical innovations
Specific Skill Set
- Strong conceptual understanding of communication theories, professional communication, media studies, and organizational behaviour.
- Ability to teach and mentor students in soft skills, professional skills, and workplace communication.
- Sound knowledge of media laws, ethics, professional ethics, and sustainability-related frameworks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an engaging and student-centric teaching approach.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, mentoring, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to integrate Interdisciplinary perspectives into teaching and learning.
- Collaborative mindset for academic planning,, curriculum development, and research initiatives.
Minimum/Maximum Work Experience Required
- 1–2+ years of academic and/Irrelevant industry experience in Communication Studies, Media Studies, English, or related fields.
- Prior teaching experience is preferred but not mandatory
- Educational Requirements:
- Master's degree in English Literature, Mass Communication, Communication Studies, Media Studies, or a related discipline.
- Doctorate (PhD) in a relevant field will be an added advantage.
- Certifications or training in communication skills, media studies, ethics, sustainability, or pedagogy will be an added advantage.
- UGC NET/SLET qualification will be an added advantage but not mandatory.
