Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented SDET (Software Development Engineer in Test) with strong expertise in both Automation and Manual Testing within the Insurance domain. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, and executing automated and manual test solutions to ensure the quality, reliability, and performance of insurance applications.
The role requires strong functional testing capabilities, automation framework expertise, and solid understanding of insurance business processes including policy administration, claims, underwriting, and billing systems.
Key Responsibilities
Automation Testing Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain robust automation frameworks and test scripts.
- Automate functional, regression, integration, API, and end-to-end test scenarios.
- Develop reusable automation components and utilities.
- Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines.
- Analyze automation results, troubleshoot failures, and improve framework stability.
- Participate in code reviews and enforce automation best practices.
- Ensure optimal test coverage and automation efficiency.
Manual & Functional Testing Responsibilities
- Analyze business requirements, user stories, and functional specifications.
- Prepare and execute detailed test cases and test scenarios.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, system, and UAT testing.
- Identify, log, track, and retest defects.
- Validate business workflows and ensure application functionality aligns with requirements.
- Support production validation and release testing activities.
Insurance Domain Responsibilities
- Work on insurance applications covering:
- Policy Administration
- Claims Management
- Underwriting
- Billing & Payments
- Renewals & Endorsements
- Customer & Agent Portals
- Understand insurance business rules, workflows, and compliance requirements.
- Validate insurance products and transaction processing logic.
- Collaborate with business analysts and domain teams for requirement clarification and testing validation.
Collaboration & Delivery
- Collaborate with developers, QA teams, business analysts, and product owners.
- Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies and sprint activities.
- Provide testing status updates, risk assessments, and quality metrics.
- Mentor junior QA/automation engineers when required.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Automation Testing Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in automation testing tools/frameworks such as:
- Selenium WebDriver
- Playwright
- Cypress
- Rest Assured
- TestNG / JUnit
- Experience in API automation testing.
- Strong programming/scripting skills in:
- Java
- Python
- JavaScript
- Experience with CI/CD tools:
- Jenkins
- GitHub Actions
- Azure DevOps
- Experience with version control tools like Git.
Manual Testing Skills
- Strong knowledge of STLC and SDLC processes.
- Expertise in:

- User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
- Strong defect management and root cause analysis skills.
- Experience in test planning, test execution, and reporting.
Insurance Domain Expertise
- Strong understanding of Insurance business processes and workflows.
- Experience in Life Insurance, Health Insurance, or Property & Casualty (P&C) preferred.
- Familiarity with insurance platforms and core policy systems.
Database & API Skills
- Good knowledge of SQL for backend validation and database testing.
- Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as:
- Postman
- Swagger
- Rest Assured
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- ISTQB certification preferred.
- Insurance certifications (LOMA, CPCU, etc.) are an added advantage.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum delivery models.
Preferred/Good to Have
- Experience with Guidewire, Duck Creek, TIA, or other insurance platforms.
- Exposure to performance testing tools like JMeter.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
- Exposure to BDD frameworks such as Cucumber.
