Every year, more than a million students participate in engineering admissions through counseling systems such as JoSAA, CSAB, VITEEE, and state-level counseling processes. Despite the life-changing importance of these decisions, most students rely on scattered information, outdated cutoff lists, random YouTube videos, or WhatsApp groups to make choices that can impact their careers for years.

At OviGuide, we're building an AI-powered platform that helps students make smarter admission decisions using historical cutoff data, verified college insights, predictive analytics, and real-time counseling guidance.

This is not a typical internship where you'll spend months fixing minor bugs or working on isolated tasks.

As an SDE Intern, you'll work directly with the founding team and contribute to real product features that impact students during critical counseling periods.

You'll gain experience in:

What You'll Work On

Depending on your strengths and interests, you'll contribute to one or more of the following areas:

Backend Development

• Build and maintain scalable REST APIs
• Design efficient database schemas and queries
• Optimize backend performance and reliability
• Develop services powering college prediction and counseling workflows

Full Stack Development

• Implement user-facing features
• Collaborate on dashboard and platform improvements
• Improve application performance and user experience
• Work across frontend and backend systems

Product Engineering

• Translate business requirements into technical solutions
• Participate in product discussions and feature planning
• Build tools that directly improve student decision-making

AI & Data Features

• Work with counseling datasets and cutoff information
• Assist in building prediction systems
• Explore AI-driven recommendation and guidance features
• Help improve accuracy and usability of data-powered tools

Responsibilities

• Develop clean, maintainable, and well-documented code
• Build new features from idea to deployment
• Write unit tests and integration tests
• Debug and resolve production issues
• Participate in code reviews and technical discussions
• Collaborate with designers, developers, and founders
• Identify opportunities for performance and scalability improvements
• Take ownership of tasks and deliver high-quality solutions
• Continuously learn and adopt best engineering practices

What We're Looking ForRequired Skills

• Strong understanding of Data Structures and Algorithms
• Solid programming skills in at least one language:
• Python
• Java
• JavaScript/TypeScript
• C++
• Understanding of Object-Oriented Programming principles
• Familiarity with databases and SQL
• Knowledge of REST APIs and backend fundamentals
• Experience with Git and GitHub
• Strong problem-solving abilities
• Ability to learn quickly and work independently

Good To Have

• Experience with React, Next.js, Node.js, FastAPI, Django, Flask, or similar frameworks
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and deployment workflows
• Understanding of system design fundamentals
• Knowledge of AI/ML concepts
• Previous internship, hackathon, or project experience
• Experience building and deploying personal projects
