Our Application Engineering team is where the AiDASH platform meets the real-world needs of enterprise customers. We take the core product and tailor it to each customer's workflows, systems, and data - building extensions on top of core product APIs, integrations with customer and partner systems, and bespoke capabilities that large utilities (especially Investor-Owned Utilities) depend on. It is hands-on, customer-facing engineering with direct, measurable impact.
As a software engineer III, you will bring deep full-stack expertise and a strong sense of ownership to high-impact, customer-facing work. With a roster of integrations on the near-term horizon, you will lead the design and delivery of complex solutions that bridge the gap between our core product and the specific demands of the market, mentor other engineers, and act as a technical authority within the team. You will work closely with customers and partners to translate ambiguous requirements into production-grade software.
Responsibilities
- Lead complex customer solutions: Architect and deliver sophisticated integrations, migrations, and platform extensions built on core product APIs that address unique enterprise workflows, owning the work from technical scoping through production deployment.
- Bridge product and market: Close the gap between the core platform and the bespoke requirements of large customers, especially Investor-Owned Utilities, balancing reusable, product-aligned design against customer-specific needs.
- Partner with customers directly: Engage customers and external partners on upcoming integrations scoping requirements, presenting trade-offs, and building trust as the technical face of AiDASH.
- Drive full-stack excellence: Work authoritatively across the stack, backend (Python, Java) and frontend (React with TypeScript), making sound architectural decisions that balance speed, scalability, and maintainability.
- Build AI-native: Use AI tooling from AI-assisted coding, such as Cursor and Claude, to agentic workflows and services like AWS Bedrock to ship faster and raise quality, and help establish how the team works with these tools.
- Own technical architecture: Lead schema design, data modelling, and query optimisation across SQL and NoSQL databases for complex, high-volume customer environments.
- Set the engineering bar: Champion best practices in code quality, testing, documentation, and system design; conduct thorough code reviews and mentor junior engineers.
- Communicate with clarity: Present technical decisions and trade-offs clearly to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders at all levels, working in an Agile/Scrum environment with JIRA.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional experience delivering full-stack web applications in production.
- Deep expertise in Python or Java for backend development, and React with TypeScript on the frontend.
- Strong command of SQL and NoSQL databases, including schema design, query optimisation, and data pipeline architecture.
- Proven ability to architect and deliver scalable, maintainable, well-tested systems end-to-end.
- Experience building API-based extensions and integrating with third-party or partner systems.
- Fluency with AI-assisted development, AI coding assistants (e. g., Cursor, Claude) and/or agentic workflows and services such as AWS Bedrock and good judgement about where they add value.
- Experience in B2B SaaS or enterprise software, ideally with customer-facing or professional services exposure; comfort working directly with customers and partners.
- Comfortable in an Agile/Scrum environment using JIRA.
- A degree in computer science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Nice To Have
- Experience working with utilities, energy, or other regulated enterprise customers (Investor-Owned Utilities a strong plus).
- Background in a professional services, solutions, or field engineering team within a product company.
- Exposure to geospatial, satellite, or large-scale data products.
