About the role:
- We are looking for an SDE 3 Backend Engineer to join our Growth Engineering team and build scalable backend platforms that drive customer acquisition, activation, engagement, and monetization.
- This is a senior individual contributor role with significant technical ownership and influence, offering the opportunity to progressively take ownership of the B2B backend charter across architecture, execution, and mentorship as the team scales.
- The ideal candidate brings deep backend expertise in Java and Node.js, strong system design skills, and a mindset focused on building durable platforms that scale with the business.
What You'll do:
- Design, build, and scale high-quality backend systems using Java and Node.js that power Growth initiatives across B2C and B2B use cases.
- Own system design and architecture for critical services, ensuring scalability, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Build APIs and backend platforms that enable rapid experimentation, feature iteration, and data-driven growth.
- Drive performance, scalability, and cost efficiency through efficient data modeling, caching, and asynchronous processing.
- Ensure production readiness through strong engineering practices including testing, observability, monitoring, and incident ownership.
- Collaborate closely with Product, App/Web, Data, and Design teams to translate business problems into robust backend solutions.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and hands-on technical leadership.
- Leverage the increasing adoption of AI tools and technologies to:
- Enhance customer and partner user experiences
- Improve developer productivity and internal operational workflows
- Reduce manual effort and accelerate delivery for internal teams
- Continuously raise the engineering bar by influencing best practices, technical standards, and architectural decisions across the Growth organization.
What we're looking for:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science.
- 68 years of backend engineering experience building and operating production-grade systems.
- Strong hands-on experience with Java (Spring Boot or similar frameworks) or Node.js (NestJS, Express, or equivalent).
- Solid understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and API design.
- Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, DynamoDB, MongoDB).
- Experience with caching systems (Redis/Memcached) and asynchronous/event-driven processing.
- Proven ability to own complex backend systems end-to-end, from design to production.
- Strong problem-solving skills, communication, and a high sense of ownership.
- Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
Experience that's a plus:
- Familiarity with messaging and streaming systems (Kafka, Pub/Sub, SQS, etc.).
- Exposure to feature flags, A/B testing frameworks, and experimentation tooling.
- Experience in influencing or leading technical initiatives across teams.
