Role Overview
The SDDC Engineer plays a key role in designing, implementing, and supporting Software Defined Data Center (SDDC) and Private Cloud platforms for enterprise customers. This role is responsible for deployment, configuration, migration, troubleshooting, and operational support across compute, storage, virtualization, backup, and networking layers. The engineer will work closely with infrastructure, cloud, and operations teams to ensure scalable, secure, and highly available infrastructure environments.
Responsibilities
- Deploy, configure, and manage hypervisors and virtualization clusters across enterprise environments.
- Install, administer, and support VMware and Nutanix infrastructure platforms.
- Provision and manage virtual machines, templates, networking, and storage resources.
- Perform installation, administration, patching, and maintenance of Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Support backup, restore, and disaster recovery (DR) operations to ensure business continuity.
- Handle L2 troubleshooting, incident management, and root cause analysis for infrastructure-related issues.
- Support cloud migration initiatives and workload onboarding activities.
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, operational procedures, and runbooks.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and operations teams for platform optimization and automation initiatives.
- Ensure operational excellence, platform stability, high availability, and system performance.
Required Skills & Experience
- 6+ years of experience in infrastructure, virtualization, or private cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience in implementing and supporting VMware and Nutanix-based SDDC platforms.
- Strong technical expertise in virtualization, storage, networking, and Linux/Windows administration.
- Good understanding of SAN, NAS, and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI) concepts.
- Experience with backup and recovery tools such as Veeam, Commvault, or similar technologies.
- Basic scripting and automation knowledge using PowerShell, Bash, or Python.
- Exposure to containers, Kubernetes, or OpenShift environments is preferred.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and operational support capabilities.
