Roles & Responsibilities
The Manager – Supply Chain Management (SCM) will be responsible for leading and optimizing the end-to-end supply chain function, including procurement, inventory management, vendor development, logistics coordination, supply planning, compliance, and process improvement initiatives. The role focuses on ensuring uninterrupted material availability, cost optimization, operational efficiency, supplier performance management, and alignment of supply chain strategies with organizational objectives.
Supply Chain Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and implement supply chain strategies aligned with organizational growth and operational objectives.
- Lead and manage procurement, inventory, logistics, vendor management, and supply planning functions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance supply chain efficiency and cost optimization.
- Establish performance metrics and monitor supply chain effectiveness across all plant locations.
- Lead and motivate teams to achieve departmental and organizational goals.
- Develop succession planning and capability-building initiatives within the SCM function.
Procurement & Supply Planning
- Ensure timely procurement of raw materials, consumables, engineering items, and services required across all locations.
- Develop procurement strategies to optimize cost, quality, and delivery performance.
- Monitor material requirements and coordinate with manufacturing teams to ensure uninterrupted production.
- Review procurement plans and supplier performance regularly.
- Ensure compliance with procurement policies, procedures, and approval mechanisms.
- Support strategic sourcing and long-term supply agreements.
Inventory Management & Logistics
- Develop inventory optimization strategies to balance stock availability and working capital requirements.
- Monitor inventory levels, stock movements, and inventory accuracy across all locations.
- Coordinate logistics and transportation activities to ensure timely delivery of materials.
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse, inventory, and distribution efficiency.
- Implement inventory control measures and monitor supply chain KPIs.
Vendor Development & Supplier Relationship Management
- Develop, evaluate, and maintain a robust supplier base.
- Maintain approved vendor lists and ensure procurement is conducted only through approved vendors.
- Identify and develop new suppliers to support business growth and risk mitigation.
- Monitor supplier performance through vendor rating systems and performance reviews.
- Conduct supplier visits, audits, and performance evaluations.
- Build strategic relationships with suppliers, contractors, transporters, and service providers.
Data Management, MIS & Analytics
- Develop and monitor supply chain dashboards, MIS reports, and performance metrics.
- Generate periodic reports related to procurement, inventory, logistics, supplier performance, and operational efficiency.
- Analyze supply chain data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure accuracy, integrity, and availability of supply chain data.
- Support data-driven decision-making through advanced reporting and analytics.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify, assess, and mitigate supply chain risks, including supplier disruptions, logistics challenges, and market uncertainties.
- Develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, statutory requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Monitor supply chain governance and control frameworks.
- Support sustainability initiatives and responsible sourcing practices.
ERP, Process Improvement & Digitalization
- Drive effective utilization of SAP/ERP systems within the SCM function.
- Ensure data accuracy and process compliance within ERP platforms.
- Identify opportunities for automation and digital transformation.
- Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and control.
- Support implementation of new systems, tools, and technologies related to supply chain operations.
Quality, Audit & Management Systems
- Ensure compliance with ISO, IATF, EMS, 5S, and other applicable management systems.
- Maintain SCM-related documentation and records as per organizational standards.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure timely closure of observations.
- Prepare and submit quantifiable criteria and management system reports.
- Promote quality-focused practices throughout the supply chain process.
Cross-Functional Coordination
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Stores, Finance, Costing, Internal Audit, and HR teams.
- Coordinate material planning, budgeting, supplier approvals, and operational requirements.
- Facilitate effective communication among departments to ensure seamless supply chain execution.
- Support plant operations through regular reviews and site visits.
