Position Summary

This is a full-time, 1.0 FTE/8 hours per day position working on the AD-12 (260 days per full school year, July through June) schedule, Mon-Fri, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

We are seeking a School Safety and Threat Assessment Program Manager to coordinate the ongoing functioning of comprehensive school safety systems, including a student threat assessment system that offers a multi-agency team/multi-disciplinary approach consisting of a school-based screening team and a community-based student threat assessment team.

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Present self and 4J in a professional manner including: in oral and written communication, professional disposition when working with others and maintaining professional dress standards.
  • Complex Problem Solving requires identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and decision making by considering the relative costs and benefits of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Must be skilled at systems analysis and evaluation — determining how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations, and the environment will affect outcomes. Identifying measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system.
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
  • Knowledge of budget management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise related to engaging with stakeholders, including students, families and communities, to promote wellness and self-sufficiency, while decreasing risk.
  • Planning and Organization: Assesses the work to be performed, and considers how it should be organized and accomplished, with appropriate priorities and realistic time parameters.
  • Equity Mindset: Demonstrates awareness of biases and the impacts biases may have when interacting with BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, young women, disabled, ESL students, and other protected classes. Leads with a racial equity lens and actively uses the racial equity tool in meaningful ways to implement trauma informed practices.
  • Assists other Office of School Safety personnel as may be required for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, disseminate, and effectuate verbal or written communication and directives to a diverse group of administrators, staff, and the broader district community.
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism, integrity, dependability and maintain a high level of confidentiality in accordance with FERPA and adherence to the competent and ethical educator practices.
  • Promotion of equity and diversity in all settings and processes and a commitment to anti-racists principles.
  • Maintain compliance with state and federal laws governing all aspects of our agency including ORS, OAR, IDEA, FOIA, and CIPA.
  • Exceptional prioritization of tasks, timely completion of work assignments, ability to take the initiative and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates respectful, flexible and effective teambuilding skills of cooperation, communication and active participation.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives, find requested data and present in user-friendly formats for internal and public distribution.
  • Maintain regular attendance at work. Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered qualified as determined by Human Resources.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a job-related field. OR,
  • An Associate's degree with 2 years of increasing levels of job-related experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience working in schools, program coordination or community-based programs involving youth, drug, alcohol, and tobacco abuse, the unhoused, or other related community health prevention or counseling.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license- This position requires driving a district vehicle or personal vehicle to conduct district business.
  • Valid first aid, CPR/AED training or ability to obtain certification within 90 days.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional experience with behavioral health practices (substance abuse and/or mental health).
  • Experience with community mobilization.
  • Experience working in a school-based program with emphasis on: violence prevention and/or early intervention, alcohol, tobacco and/or other drug prevention and early intervention, and/or mental health.
  • Knowledge and/or professional experience working in a K-12 environment.
  • Two (2) years of experience supervising support staff.
  • Bilingual proficiency/or multi-cultural experience.
