Purpose of the Position:
- Implementing and managing the policies, regulations, and procedures as per the Board of Education and the Governing Body of the School, to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe, child-centered learning environment that meets and exceeds Board's requirement.
- Taking charge of student admission, staff supervision, allocation of duties and teaching responsibility to the teachers and providing them necessary facilities in discharging their duties and conducting External examination/Board examination in accordance with the instructions issued by the Government /Board from time to time.
- Overseeing overall discipline of the school and its students, curriculum planning, syllabus completion, supervision of extracurricular activities, student assessments, parent student interaction, emergency planning and general operations of the school.
Detailed Responsibility:
- To play the transformational role in Apeejay School; Develops institutional goals and objectives consistent with the vision, mission and values of Apeejay School across Primary/Secondary/Higher Secondary departments.
- Participates in budgets preparation based on documented program needs, estimated enrollment, personnel and other fiscal needs and maintain cost control.
- Leads development of curriculum strategies to support the achievement of the school's performance objectives.
- Plans student enrollment process and marketing strategies to ensure that the school achieves its targeted enrollment projections.
- Plans for entire year's academic work in advance in consultation with Vice Principals and teachers and holds staff meeting to review the syllabus completion and assess the progress of the students.
- Ensures staffroom and classroom decorum by conducting regular checks and encourages healthy exchange of creative and constructive ideas and innovative teaching methods in classes.
- Ensures student discipline is appropriate and equitable in accordance with the code of conduct of the school and takes corrective action if required.
- Ensures arrangement and coordination of various school events/ co-curricular activities/ and encourage student participation in various competitions for developing talents.
- Plays important part in teachers/staff recruitment and their performance evaluation in co-ordination with Corporate HR team.
- Identifies and recommends any teacher development workshop or seminars for professional development and upgrading of skill sets for the teachers.
- Keeps track of lesson plan/curriculum development among the teachers while ensuring that teachers are upgrading themselves as far as their subject matter is concerned.
- Conducts class visits on a random basis to check whether class discipline is been maintained effectively.
- Interacts with parents during admission and also during parent-teacher meetings to resolve any problems or queries they might have.
- Counsel students/parents who are unable to cope with their studies for a stream change as required.
- Handles official correspondence relating to the school and furnish within the specified dates, the returns and information required by the Board/Governing Body.
- Ensures all statutory documentation is complete as required by the Education Boards.
- Establishes, maintains and develops effective relationships with officials of the concerned Education Board and other Government departments for CBSE affiliation/NOC related work.
- Promotes the physical well-being of the student and ensures high standard of cleanliness and health habits within the school premises
- Ensures effective functioning of school committees and leads any special projects assigned for the school from time to time.
- Deals with crisis/emergency situation and takes decisions and actions as situation demands.
- Follows up with fee defaulters and recommends actions/ fee concession on need basis.

- External Interface: Government Body, Parents, Students, Educational Board, External Examiners, Counsellors, Educational Forum, Political Body, Contractual Staff
Experience: 15 – 20 yrs, with 8+ yrs as Principal in reputed Schools. Should have working experience with CBSE schools at K-12 level.
Education: B.Ed with Master Degree (MSc/MA)
