The Accounts Payables ERP Solution Architect designs business-driven, standards-based, and future-ready enterprise resource planning (ERP) solutions within the Accounts Payables context. In this role, you will design solutions that meet product requirements, business priorities, and enterprise standards while managing non-functional requirements and evolving the architecture throughout the product life cycle. By solving complex technical problems, defining reference architectures, and aligning with the broader architecture community for governance, you will ensure robust ERP implementations that deliver enhanced value to the organization.
Description of the area
Our landscape in the Accounts Payables area integrates SAP ECC and S/4HANA with diverse procurement platforms to support the Invoice-to-Pay lifecycle. We ensure seamless processing from invoice receipt and compliant financial approval workflows through to the successful delivery of payment instructions to the Treasury solution.
You will play a key role in navigating the transition from legacy environments to modern ERP standards, ensuring integration resilience and scalability as we re-engineer our global ERP landscape through the ASPIRE program.
You will serve as the critical interface for translating business requirements into technical/ IT language. Your primary mission is to deeply explore and define the functional why behind business requests, ensuring that every technological solution is built upon a foundation of clearly mapped processes and validated organizational needs.
Job Responsibilities
Scope / (Content Leadership): Designs ERP solutions that meet product requirements, business priorities, and enterprise standards within a specific solution context. Manages Non-Functional Requirements (NFR) and fitness functions. Documents and evolves the architecture throughout the product life cycle, and aligns with the architecture community for proper governance.
Accountability/Problem Solving: Solves complex problems, taking a new perspective on existing solutions and exercising judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information. Maintains the vision, roadmap, and current landscape for the assigned ERP solution. Assesses and consults on impacts and dependencies of initiatives on capabilities, risk, and the application landscape. Creates conceptual and logical data models, taxonomies, and ontologies for the solution and the related interfaces. Defines and drives reference architectures, needed NFRs, and ensures Architecture Decision Records (ADRs) are recorded. Drives external technology trends and assesses feasibility for the solution, including vendor assessments.
Stakeholder Management: Explains difficult or sensitive technical information and works collaboratively to build consensus among product teams, business stakeholders, and technical peers.
Impact/Strategy: Develops and maintains the product's technology roadmap within the solution context. Provides technical oversight, guidance, and consultation on specific ERP technologies for product teams. Identifies opportunities to enhance value and business processes, improves existing solutions, manages technical debt, and researches, evaluates, pilots, and drives the adoption of new technologies.
Complexity / (Product Size): Operates primarily within the Accounts Payable product scope, managing the architectural complexities of specific ERP applications or components. In addition provides expertise and technical know-how to Product area utilising the Accounts Payable process and technology.
Business / Technical ability: In-depth knowledge in the Accounts Payable process and technology area (specifically related to ERP ecosystems), as well as a general understanding of the end to end Procurement process. Makes foundational contributions to architecture practices development and mentoring.
Education / Experience
Demonstrated experience designing and implementing business-driven, standards-based solutions within an ERP environment.
Proven track record of maintaining solution roadmaps, assessing technology trends, and conducting vendor assessments.
Experience documenting and evolving architecture throughout the product lifecycle and aligning with enterprise architecture governance.
Act as a strategic translator, performing deep-dive business analysis to elicit requirements and ensure technical designs optimize business processes and end-user experiences.
Technical Skills
General and in-depth functional knowledge of SAP ECC and S/4HANA (FI/CO and MM), complemented by deep technical and functional knowledge of OpenText Vendor Invoice Management (Otext-VIM). Advanced ABAP code expertise is required to analyze custom logic, review BAdIs/User Exits, and perform deep-system debugging and ensure high-quality code delivery from internal and external partners.
Experience in designing scalable, high-volume financial processing solutions in a global, multi-entity environment.
Strong understanding of OCR (Optical Character Recognition) and Intelligent Capture technologies for automated data extraction and validation.
Strong capability in creating Conceptual & Logical Data Models, Taxonomies, and Ontologies for solutions and interfaces.
Expertise in managing Non-Functional Requirements (NFRs), defining fitness functions, and establishing reference architectures and patterns.
Ability to accurately record and maintain Architecture Decision Records (ADRs).
