SAP Project Manager (FICO) – Job Description
Role Overview
An SAP Project Manager specializing in FICO (Finance & Controlling) leads end-to-end SAP implementations, upgrades, or support projects focused on financial processes. This role combines project management expertise with deep functional knowledge in SAP FICO to ensure successful delivery within scope, time, and budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management
- Lead full lifecycle SAP projects (implementation, rollout, upgrade, support)
- Define project scope, goals, deliverables, and timelines
- Develop and manage project plans, budgets, and resources
- Monitor progress and handle risks, issues, and change requests
- Ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
FICO Functional Oversight
- Oversee configuration and implementation of:
- General Ledger (GL)
- Accounts Payable (AP)
- Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Asset Accounting (AA)
- Cost Center & Profit Center Accounting
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards
- Guide teams on best practices in financial processes
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the primary point of contact between business users and technical teams
- Communicate project status to senior management and stakeholders
- Manage client expectations and ensure satisfaction
Team Leadership
- Lead cross-functional teams including functional consultants, technical developers, and testers
- Allocate tasks and monitor team performance
- Provide mentorship and guidance to FICO consultants
Integration & Coordination
- Ensure integration with other SAP modules like MM, SD, and PM
- Coordinate with BASIS and technical teams for system performance and transport management
- Oversee data migration and system testing (UAT, SIT)
Required Skills
- Strong expertise in SAP FICO modules
- Proven experience in SAP project management
- Knowledge of project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid)
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making ability
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, IT, or related field
- 12+ years of SAP experience (with at least 3–5 years in project management)
