Role Overview

The SAP HCM / Payroll Consultant is responsible for analyzing customer requirements, reviewing the proposed solution architecture, and supporting implementation activities to deliver optimal SAP HCM payroll solutions.

The role involves participation in the complete application implementation lifecycle, including design, configuration, development, testing, deployment, and production support. The consultant ensures solutions align with standard SAP functionality, meet client requirements, and maintain high system performance.

The role also involves troubleshooting complex payroll issues, providing technical support, and ensuring continuous improvement of payroll processes and system performance.

Key Responsibilities

Functional & Technical Responsibilities

  • Analyze, prioritize, and document customer requirements for SAP HCM and Payroll solutions.
  • Review solution architecture to ensure alignment with client requirements and SAP best practices.
  • Design and configure SAP HCM modules including Payroll (PY), Time Management (TM), Organizational Management (OM), and Personnel Administration (PA).
  • Participate in the full implementation lifecycle including design, configuration, programming, testing, deployment, and support.
  • Implement and maintain solutions across Development, Testing, and Production environments.
  • Configure Payroll Schemas, PCRs (Personnel Calculation Rules), Wage Types, and Infotypes according to business requirements.
  • Develop error-free, maintainable configurations and code following organizational development standards.
  • Perform Integrated Testing of complex payroll applications and ensure system stability and accuracy.
  • Troubleshoot complex payroll processing issues and conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
  • Provide technical guidance and support to other project team members.
  • Maintain payroll documentation, system configurations, and application flow diagrams.
  • Ensure optimal application performance and identify opportunities for system improvement.

Compliance & Statutory Knowledge

  • Knowledge of European statutory payroll compliance
  • Understanding of country-specific tax regulations and social security rules
  • Compliance with GDPR data privacy standards
  • Experience handling Year-End Payroll Activities, including:
  • Tax Certificates
  • Statutory Declarations
  • SLD Reporting
  • Understanding of legal payroll reporting requirements across European countries

Technical / Functional Skills

  • Payroll Issue Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis
  • SAP HCM Configuration (Schemas, Wage Types, Infotypes)
  • Experience in SAP HCM integration with external systems
  • Knowledge of Retroactive Payroll Accounting
  • Payroll Reporting and Data Analysis
  • Experience with SAP Query and LSMW (preferred)
  • Understanding of SAP SuccessFactors / Cloud Integration (optional)
