Key Responsibilities
- An SAP FI (Financial Accounting) Consultant is responsible for implementing, configuring, and supporting the SAP FI module to help organizations manage financial transactions, reporting, and compliance. The role involves understanding business processes, designing solutions, performing system configurations, and providing user support.
Key Responsibilities:
- 1. SAP FI Module Implementation
- Configure and implement core SAP FI components: General Ledger (GL), Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Asset Accounting (AA), Bank Accounting (BA).
- Participate in full lifecycle implementations including requirement gathering, blueprinting, design, testing, go-live, and post go live support.
- Integrate FI with other SAP modules such as CO, MM, SD, PP, PS, and HCM.
- 2. Business Process Analysis
- Work closely with business users to understand financial processes.
- Analyse gaps between current business processes and SAP FI functionalities.
- Recommend process improvements and best practices.
- 3. Configuration & Customization
- Perform system configurations in SAP FI for enterprise structure, document types, field status variants, tax configurations, payment methods, and Dunning.
- Create functional specifications for RICEFW objects (Reports, Interfaces, Conversions, Enhancements, Forms & Workflows).
- Coordinate with ABAP developers for technical developments.
- 4. Testing & Documentation
- Develop and execute Unit Testing, Integration Testing (SIT), and User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
- Prepare and maintain functional documentation: Blueprint, Configuration Document, Test Scripts, End-user Manuals.
- 5. Support & Maintenance
- Provide Level 2/Level 3 support for production issues.
- Troubleshoot financial posting issues, reconciliation issues, and month-end/year-end closing errors.
- Train end users and ensure smooth financial operations.
- 6. Compliance & Reporting
- Ensure SAP FI processes comply with IFRS, GAAP, GST/VAT, and local statutory requirements.
- Support financial reporting, closing activities, and audit compliance.
- Required Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in SAP FI configuration.
- Knowledge of New GL, parallel ledgers, document splitting.
- Understanding of Asset Accounting, depreciation run, and reconciliation.
- Experience with Bank Reconciliation, Payment Programs (F110), Lockbox, Electronic Bank Statements (EBS).
- Integration knowledge with SAP CO, MM, SD.
Soft Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and in cross functional teams.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
- 28+ years of experience as an SAP FI Consultant.
- SAP FI certification (optional but preferred).
