Role Overview
We are looking for a seasoned SAP ILM RW Consultant with strong hands-on experience in SAP system decommissioning using Information Retrieval Framework (IRF) and ILM Retention Warehouse (RW). This role is ideal for professionals who've actually done decommissioning end-to-end not just configured it on slides.
You'll work on real decommissioning programs where compliance, audit-readiness, and clean data retirement matter.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute SAP system decommissioning projects using SAP ILM RW
- Design and configure Information Retrieval Framework (IRF) for legacy systems
- Perform data extraction, transformation, and load (ETL) from ECC / legacy SAP systems into ILM RW
- Define and implement retention policies, residence rules, and legal hold readiness
- Ensure audit-compliant access to historical data post-decommissioning
- Validate data completeness, reconciliation, and sign-off with business & audit teams
- Support reporting and archived data access for Finance, Legal, and Compliance teams
- Collaborate with Basis, Security, and Functional teams during decommissioning lifecycle
- Prepare technical documentation, runbooks, and handover artifacts
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years of SAP experience with strong focus on SAP ILM
- Proven hands-on experience in SAP system decommissioning
- Deep expertise in:
- SAP ILM Retention Warehouse (RW)
- Information Retrieval Framework (IRF)
- SAP Data Archiving & ILM concepts
- Experience decommissioning ECC / legacy SAP systems
- Strong understanding of data retention, legal compliance, and audit requirements
- Ability to work independently in a freelance / contract setup
- Excellent communication with both technical and business stakeholders
Good to Have
- Exposure to OpenText / third-party archive access tools
- Experience with legal hold, GDPR, or regulatory-driven decommissioning
- Prior work in regulated industries (Finance, Pharma, Manufacturing, etc.)
