SAP IBP Supply Planning Consultant

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a hands-on Consultant / Subject Matter Expert engagement supporting an enterprise client's live SAP IBP Supply environment. The scope covers configuration, enhancement and troubleshooting across Order-Based Planning and/or Time Series Supply, integrated with SAP S/4HANA via RTI or CPI-DS.

This is not a solution architecture or programme leadership role. The client's technical evaluation is deliberately hands-on: candidates are tested on configuration detail — specific profiles, transactions and tabs — rather than on approach, governance or stakeholder management. Candidates who answer at a design-authority level, however experienced, have not converted at this client.

CRITICAL DIFFERENTIATOR — READ BEFORE SUBMITTING

SAP IBP as a bare CV skill line is not enough for this client. Every submission must show module-level detail: which specific IBP Supply modules the candidate has configured (Order-Based Planning, Time Series Supply, Response & Supply), what they personally built — planning run profiles, cost strategy profiles, source of supply, deployment, RTI integration models — and how recent that hands-on work is.

Profiles built mainly on SAP APO experience with SAP IBP mentioned only in passing are being filtered out at interview regardless of total years of experience. Do not submit on the strength of a skill tag alone — confirm module-level depth at pre-screen first.

TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED

Core — Mandatory:

• Deep, recent hands-on SAP IBP Supply experience in Order-Based Planning (OBP) and/or Time Series Supply, from named production projects
• Order-Based Planning run profile configuration: demand selection, demand prioritisation, cost strategy and optimizer cost profiles, switchable constraints (material, capacity, production allocation), maximum lateness
• Source of supply configuration, forecast consumption (backward/forward periods), pegging, and sourcing ratio setup — and able to clearly distinguish source of supply from transportation lane logic
• RTI and/or CPI-DS integration with SAP S/4HANA: integration model setup (CFM1/CFM2), queue monitoring (SMQ1/SMQ2, BGRFC), and integration troubleshooting
• Master data modelling: location, product, resource, PDS, transportation lanes, and BOM / alternate BOM structures
• 8+ years total SAP supply chain planning experience across APO and/or IBP

Advantageous:

• Subcontracting configuration within SAP IBP
• Analytical stories / Supply Chain Control Tower dashboard build, including performance tuning at scale
• Working conceptual knowledge of SAP IBP Demand Planning — enough to explain how the supply plan is fed
• Experience operating in a ticket-driven AMS / support environment, including P1/P2/P4 incident triage
• SAP IBP certification — valued alongside production delivery evidence, not as a substitute for it

CANDIDATE PROFILE

• Comfortable working as a hands-on Consultant / SME — configuring, diagnosing and fixing issues directly, not advising from a distance
• Able to speak to their own work at transaction, profile and tab level, not only at process or approach level
• Genuine hands-on SAP IBP Supply delivery within the last 12 months, not only historical or APO-era experience
• Available for a structured technical evaluation call (45–60 minutes) followed by a client-facing round if successful
• Willing to work offshore with some overlap into US hours for priority incident support
