Role Summary

The SAP EWM/TMS Master Data Support Specialist is responsible for ensuring high-quality, reliable master data that underpins critical SAP EWM and SAP TMS processes. This role focuses on stable and accurate integration and replication of master data via SOA replication, IDocs, and DRFout, along with analytical issue investigation and root cause analysis in a fast-paced support environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Master Data Management & Governance
    • Maintain and support master data objects required for SAP EWM (e.g., products, locations, packaging specifications, resources) and SAP TMS (e.g., business partners, locations, transportation lanes, freight agreements).
    • Ensure data completeness, consistency, and accuracy across interconnected SAP systems and interfaces.
    • Support and help enforce master data standards, naming conventions, and governance rules.
  • Integration & Replication (SOA, IDocs, DRFout)
    • Configure, monitor, and support master data replication using SOA services, IDocs, and DRFout between SAP S/4HANA/ERP and SAP EWM/TMS.
    • Troubleshoot failed or inconsistent replications, including queue monitoring, IDoc reprocessing, and DRFout error analysis.
    • Collaborate with functional and technical teams to optimize replication models, filters, and mapping for performance and reliability.
  • Production Support & Root Cause Analysis
    • Act as a key point of contact for master-data-related incidents and service requests impacting EWM/TMS operations.
    • Perform detailed root cause analysis to identify underlying issues (data quality, configuration, integration, process gaps) and propose sustainable fixes.
    • Document findings, resolutions, and preventive actions in knowledge base articles and runbooks.
    • Assist with impact analysis and validation of system or process changes that affect master data and downstream EWM/TMS processes.
  • Process & Quality Improvement
    • Proactively identify recurring issues and drive improvements in master data processes, validation checks, and controls.
    • Support testing activities (unit, integration, UAT) related to master data changes, interface enhancements, and new EWM/TMS functionality.
    • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance data reliability, system stability, and operational performance.
  • Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Work closely with business process owners, functional consultants, integration teams, and support teams to resolve issues quickly and accurately.
    • Communicate clearly with operations and logistics stakeholders regarding issue status, impacts, and resolution timelines.
    • Provide guidance and training to users on master data processes and best practices where needed.
Required Skills & Experience

  • Technical & Functional
    • Strong understanding of SAP EWM and/or SAP TMS master data objects and their role in end-to-end logistics and transportation processes.
    • Hands-on experience with SOA-based master data replication, IDocs, and DRFout (configuration, monitoring, troubleshooting).
    • Familiarity with SAP tools for monitoring and analyzing interfaces (e.g., IDoc monitoring, qRFC, DRF logs, relevant transaction codes).
    • Good understanding of integration concepts between SAP S/4HANA/ERP and satellite systems (EWM/TMS).
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving
    • Strong analytical mindset with a high level of precision and attention to detail in handling master data.
    • Proven ability to perform structured root cause analysis and drive issues to closure.
    • Ability to interpret technical logs, error messages, and data discrepancies and translate them into clear actions.
  • Behavioral

    • Comfortable working under time pressure in production support scenarios while maintaining quality and accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2–5+ years of experience in SAP environments, preferably in EWM, TMS, or related logistics and supply chain modules.
  • Demonstrated experience with SOA replication, IDocs, and DRFout in a production support or implementation context.
  • Experience in large-scale, global SAP landscapes is a plus.
  • ITIL or similar certification/experience in structured support processes is an advantage.
