SAP EDM Consultant

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced SAP EDM Consultant with strong technical and functional expertise in SAP IS-U Energy Data Management (EDM). The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in SAP IS-U configuration, energy data processing, integration with related utilities modules, and end-to-end meter-to-cash processes. The candidate will support SAP IS-U projects across implementation, enhancement, AMS, transition, testing, and production support activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Configure and customize SAP IS-U EDM for profile management, settlement management, time-of-use (TOU) billing, and real-time pricing.

• Manage the import, validation, processing, and handling of large volumes of energy consumption and interval data received from external systems such as MDUS and AMI.

• Ensure seamless integration of SAP EDM with SAP IS-U Device Management (DM), Billing & Invoicing, and Financial Contract Accounting (FI-CA).

• Work with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document requirements related to energy data management and utility business processes.

• Lead or support SAP AMS activities for SAP IS-U projects, including post-go-live support, transition from incumbent SI partners, and resolution of Incidents, Service Requests, and Change Requests.

• Prepare functional specifications, process flows, technical/functional designs, configuration documents, and other project deliverables.

• Develop and execute test strategies and test cases for unit testing, integration testing, system testing, and UAT, wherever applicable.

• Provide ongoing production support, troubleshoot functional issues, analyze root causes, and coordinate with technical teams for resolution.

• Support end-to-end meter-to-cash processes across electricity, gas, or water utilities and align SAP solutions with utilities-specific business practices.

• Monitor and support regulatory and legal compliance requirements applicable to utility energy data and billing processes.

• Manage market communication and data exchange processes with external market partners, particularly in deregulated utility markets.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Minimum 7+ years of relevant experience in SAP IS-U, with strong hands-on expertise in SAP EDM and related modules.

• Strong proficiency in SAP IS-U configuration and functional understanding of Energy Data Management processes.

• Strong understanding of energy consumption data, interval data processing, profiling, settlement, and pricing processes.

• Good knowledge of integration across SAP IS-U components, including EDM, Device Management, Billing & Invoicing, and FI-CA.

• Strong understanding of end-to-end utility meter-to-cash processes.

• Ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, functional teams, technical teams, and external market partners.

• Knowledge of ABAP for debugging and collaboration with technical development teams is beneficial.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP certification in SAP IS-U, SAP EDM, or S/4HANA Utilities is preferred but not mandatory.

• Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA for Utilities is an advantage.

• Knowledge or experience with SAP Fiori is an advantage.

Industry & Domain Knowledge

• Utilities domain experience across electricity, gas, and/or water.

• Strong understanding of utility market processes, regulatory requirements, and market communication.

• Experience supporting deregulated utility environments and external market data exchanges.
