The SAP Global Systems team within IS&T runs the Operations and Financial transactional platform that powers all of Apple functions like Sales, Manufacturing, Distribution and Financials. We collaborate closely with architects, engineering teams, security, and business stakeholders to ensure the BTP platform's high availability, performance, scalability, and security. We will lead monitoring, automation, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives while shaping platform standards and operational excellence that align with business priorities and technology strategy.
Description
As a BTP Platform Operations Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, governance, and seamless operation of enterprise SAP BTP landscapes. Your responsibilities will encompass managing availability, security, performance, and scalability across services such as BTP Cloud Foundry Applications ,Integration Suite, Kyma, Analytics Cloud, and Process Automation.Your play the role as the BTP Platform's technical escalation point, driving monitoring and automation initiatives, collaborating with architects and business stakeholders, and continuously enhancing platform operations to support critical business applications.
This position is ideal for a hands-on platform leader who possesses profound SAP BTP expertise and robust operational, governance, and stakeholder management capabilities.
Responsibilities
- SAP BTP Platform Administration, Troubleshooting, Maintenance, and Change Management and tasks; play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of critical production workloads.
- Managing key stakeholders and conveying the business leaders about the critical health of business applications.
- Act as an escalation point for complex technical issues and provide expert guidance to the team.
- Oversee the end-to-end administration of the SAP BTP environment, including provisioning, configuration, monitoring, and troubleshooting of various BTP services (e.g., Cloud Foundry, Kyma Runtime, Integration Suite, Analytics Cloud, Process Automation, Data Intelligence, etc.).
- Ensure the high availability, performance, scalability, and security of all BTP landscapes and deployed applications.
- Develop and implement robust monitoring, alerting, and logging strategies for BTP services and applications.
- Collaborate closely with application development teams, enterprise architects, security teams, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and provide technical guidance.
- Communicate platform status, issues, and strategic direction to senior management and relevant teams.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives for BTP operations, automation, and service delivery.
- Global Traffic Management & Security: Design and implement robust security enforcement policies within SAP APIM using OAuth, JWT, MTLS, and SAML. This includes configuring complex principal propagation scenarios to ensure identity is preserved across multi-cloud hops.
- Enterprise-Grade Event Mesh: Architect high-performance, asynchronous communication models using SAP Advanced Event Mesh. You must be able to design publisher-subscriber patterns that integrate seamlessly with SAP BTP Integration Suite to enable real-time, scalable data streaming. Also, should have expertise in managing DR & DMR links.
- Hybrid Landscape Connectivity: Manage and optimize connectivity across diverse environments using Edge Integration Cell and Cloud Connector to bridge on-premise legacy systems with cloud-native services.
- Infrastructure & Reliability: Set up and manage SAP APIM across multiple non-Production and Production subaccounts, implementing Custom Domains and disaster recovery configurations to ensure system stability.
- Advanced Event Mesh Implementation: Architect complex event-driven messaging solutions that support high-concurrency and sub-millisecond latency requirements.
- Orchestration & Integration: Leverage SAP Cloud Integration (CPI) in conjunction with AEM to create decoupled, responsive systems that integrate SAP ECC with non-SAP systems.
- Performance Validation: Conduct rigorous API testing and performance validation using to ensure the reliability of mission-critical data flows.
- Technical Expertise & Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 12+ years of Overall Experience and and 5+ years on SAP BTP.
- 3-5 years in leading SAP platform operations, cloud operations, or enterprise middleware/platform engineering.
- 2+ years of People Management experience and strong StakeHolder management and Escalation management experience.
- Experience in SAP BTP Platform Administration and Integration Suite.
- Strong expertise in BTP platform security and authentication mechanisms (OAuth2, XSUAA, JWT, SAML, IAS, certificate-based auth, trust configurations)
- Proven experience in IT operations, incident/change management, and platform reliability.
- Excellent debugging and troubleshooting skills, perform deep root-cause analysis across application, platform, security, and network layers
- A strong sense of ownership, good critical thinking & interpersonal skills to work successfully across diverse business and technical & multi-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or other relevant major.
- SAP BTP / Cloud / Basis certification (preferred but not mandatory)
- Solid skills in cloud networking concepts (VPC/VNet, routing, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, private endpoints, hybrid connectivity)
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional technical operations teams and manage escalations
- Strong expertise in SAP Integration Suite (Cloud Integration, API Management, Advanced Event Mesh) operations and support
