Job Description:

We have an opportunity in Bangalore location, for the position of an experienced SAP Basis Lead Engineer to design, build, and optimize our enterprise SAP platforms. This role goes beyond administration, SAP basis engineer acts as a go-to person with a strong focus on engineering scalable, secure, and automated solutions that support SAP S/4HANA application and other core applications. The ideal candidate has deep expertise in SAP technical architecture, performance engineering, and cloud infrastructure, and thrives in solving complex engineering challenges ensuring SAP SOX Financials application stability, performance, and alignment with Business and Enterprise objectives.

Roles and Responsibilities:

● Lead and manage SAP Basis team

● Engineer and optimize SAP landscapes (S/4HANA, BW, etc.) for scalability, performance, and reliability.

● Architect and implement SAP migrations, upgrades, and patching strategies across on-prem and cloud environments, with a focus on high-performance platforms, reusable components, and scalable infrastructure

● Implementation and Administration of SAP Cloud and Business Technology Platform solutions

● Automate SAP system provisioning, monitoring, and recovery using modern tools (Ansible, Terraform, etc.).

● Design high-availability large-scale solutions, ensuring compliance with business continuity requirements.

● Partner with infrastructure, cloud, and security teams to ensure end-to-end system resilience and compliance. Also set technical direction and influence architectural decisions.

● Identifies and proposes strategies around technical problems, troubleshooting complex system issues across SAP Basis, Application, and SAP landscape.

● Provide engineering oversight on performance tuning, transport management, and security hardening.

● Contribute to technical roadmaps, best practices, and standards for enterprise SAP operations.

● Researches and proposes technology solutions applicable to Dow Jones requirements and roadmap

● Balances significant hands-on development with strong strategic technical vision

● Ensures successful business events like Financial period close timely completion with pro-active monitoring, issue resolution, and after hour coverage

● Guide and mentor teams, engineers, and third-party providers including contract workers, promoting knowledge sharing, technical excellence, and a culture of accountability and collaboration.

● Mentor, Guide, and Champion Technical alignment between teams, business stakeholders, and technology partners by driving structured communication, technical know-how sharing, and Standardized Basis practices.

● Solves complex ambiguous challenges with structured methodologies

● Introduce technical changes into the environment using a structured approach that minimizes risk and achieves high reliability, availability, and performance of each SAP instance.

● Coordinate with internal stakeholders, different teams, and vendors as required to support the SAP landscapes.

Skill and Experience:

● Proven working and hands on experience with 8+ years in SAP Basis administration of different SAP modules like S4 Hana, ERP, PI/PO, BI, BW, Solution Manager

● Hands on experience in the administration of SAP Business Technology Platform, Cloud connector, other SAP cloud applications

● 5+ years leading SAP infrastructure/implementation projects, system upgrades, and cutovers under tight timelines.

● Strong AWS infrastructure experience; a core need as it interacts with SAP integrations.

● Experience mentoring and guiding teams (3+ members), third-party service providers, and driving collaboration across stakeholders

● Deep level of knowledge on SAP basis components administration – Netweaver ABAP and Java

● Previous experience in supporting finance systems like FICA, FICO, BPC, etc

● Experience in the administration of SAP BRIM components like Convergent Charging, Convergent Mediation (a plus)

● Experience in SAP system copies and refreshes

● Good Knowledge in configuring and managing archiving setup

● Experienced in supporting various connectors & cloud integrations

● Deep level of knowledge on HA/DR technologies including design and implementation of Geographically Dispersed HA/DR solutions

● Hana, Sybase Database administration knowledge

● Experience implementing Single Sign On, certificate management, and secure authentication for SAP S/4 Hana platform.

● Technical and configuration experience in business objects, Fiori etc.

● Good working knowledge on integration technologies like AIF and SAP Process Orchestration as well as connectivity protocols for sFTP, web services etc

● Highly self-motivated, work ethic driven with keen attention to detail and exceptional customer orientation

● Strong analytical skills; ability to perform complex systems analysis and draw conclusions by relating information from different sources, including root-cause analysis and issue resolution

● Strong communication (technical to business translation), stakeholder management, organizational and multitasking ability, relationship building, and results-driven mindset.

● SAP certification in basis administration is desirable.
