SAP Basis Consultant (ECC Administrator)

Role Description

We are seeking a proficient SAP Basis Consultant to ensure the stability, performance, and security of our mission-critical SAP ECC landscape. This is a technical role requiring deep knowledge of the SAP NetWeaver stack, Database Administration, and OS-level troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will be capable of handling complex system refreshes independently, managing Transport Management System (TMS) strategies, and optimizing system performance.

Key Responsibilities

System Administration and Architecture

Kernel & Patch Management: Execute complex Kernel upgrades and apply Support Packages (SPAM/SAINT) and SAP Notes (SNOTE) with prerequisite dependency analysis.

Client Administration: Perform end-to-end Client Copies (Local, Remote, Export/Import) and handle large-volume System Refreshes/Copies using Backup/Restore methods.

Transport Management (TMS): Configure and maintain complex TMS routes (STMS), including domain links and QA approval procedures. Troubleshoot return codes (RC 8, 12).

Printer & Spool Administration: Configure Output Devices (SPAD) using Access Methods (C, L, U, S) and troubleshoot complex spool overflow issues.

Background Job Management: Setup and troubleshoot standard housekeeping jobs. Analyze cancelled jobs and optimize batch windows.

Data Base Administration (DBA)

Performance Monitoring: Deep analysis of database growth, tablespace management, and reorganization.

Backup & Recovery: Monitor and validate backup strategies (Online/Offline/Redo Log). Perform Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) simulations.

DB Refresh: Execute Homogeneous System Copies using SWPM (Software Provisioning Manager).

Performance Tuning and Trouble Shooting

Workload Analysis: Expert usage of ST03N (Workload Monitor) to analyze system load and identify bottlenecks.

Memory Management: Tune SAP memory parameters (Heap vs. Extended Memory) based on ztta parameters and buffer swaps (ST02).

Dump Analysis: Deep dive into ABAP Dumps (ST22) and System Logs (SM21) to isolate root causes beyond the surface error message.

ICM & Web Dispatcher: Manage Internet Communication Manager (ICM) for HTTP/HTTPS connectivity and configure SAP Web Dispatcher for load balancing.

Solution Manager and Security

EWA: Generate and analyze Early Watch Alert (EWA) reports and implement recommendations.

Security Basics: Maintain PFCG roles, troubleshoot authorization errors (SU53), and manage login parameters (RZ10).

• Proficiency in SAP Basis and Basis Administration, including installation, configuration, and system upgrades
• Strong Troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve system-related issues
• Experience in Consulting to support and improve SAP processes
• Expertise in Database Administration for database performance optimization and maintenance
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
• Proven ability to manage high-pressure situations and resolve complex issues
• Experience in working remotely and managing tasks independently
• Relevant certifications in SAP Basis and/or Database Administration are a plus.

Complex Technical Requirements

System Upgrades: Experience assisting in at least one EHP Upgrade using SUM (Software Update Manager). Certificate Management: Configuring STRUST for SSL certificates (PSE management) to enable secure HTTPS communication.

RFC Troubleshooting: Debugging connectivity issues in SM59 (RFC Destinations) involving trust relationships and gateway security files (secinfo/reginfo).

OS Level Scripts: Ability to write or modify basic Shell/Bash scripts for automation of monitoring tasks or file transfers.
